Dear all,

 

I open this post to create a common area were we can post and use skins fo the VVS for the FBNF event. As per my love for the IL2, I will post several skins of a unit that (most probable) was involved there, the 214th ShAD.

You can find below several skins created by various community authors that can be download also here. I will update the list as soon as more skins are posted in the thread.

Hi all,

 

I've download a nice font(thanks to Iceman) and this is a preview of some names of the Java Squadron. Those names can be added to the aircrafts to personalize further the skin. As per order: Pod, Naj-Treg, Jumper, Platypus, RoodeDuivel, Biggles and Keben.

Just some minor corrections to the font: there is no "J" in Russian, and the "I" should look differently. The 'correct' cyrillic spellings should be something like:

I just check what you said and is true. Photoshop doesn't write the russian letter, just the typo. I use a translator into Cyrillic and the result is similar but different. Here is the updated table with normal and capital letters. Due to the font there are some letters that differ significantly. Thanks for the heads up Lucas.

Here are the skins we, LaFrench team, are using. Except the big digits on wings, to me they are historically plausible. What do you guys think?

I made some skins for IL2 with bort numbers on the wings, they were really applied for better id. They are plausible to me and(honestly) they have a nice harmony between what is historically accurate and something that we can use for our own identification as a wing/squad. Nice and well done job.

I would love to have one with white prop spinners if someday I take my second favorite plane(Pe2) on a mission with you but no rush. At leas we'll need your skins to put it in the folder and idetify you properly. Feel free to post your skins, that's was the post is.

Quick view of possible P40's for Biggles and Keben. I will try to add light green to the camo but I'm not sure abut that. Let me know about the color guys, those are just examples.

This one is Sold! Perfect!

About the other I think it is better to leave the Blue and go for Red instead! And try more black green for the brown!

Blue is not good on the camouflaged plane!

Red and Yellow is much better!

Take a look of which version you like more. In my honest opinion the last one is the one that breaks more the shape of the aircraft(to camouflage better in these summer maps). The other ones are more green and darker and the third one adds a just a little of brown. Any suggestion?

Let's see other attempt. My computer was suffering some kind of illness this afternoon..hope it's nothing to be worried. Naj-treg, Keben and Biggles. All different but keeping "squad" uniformity.

EDIT: And Biggles proposed arrow all the way to the tail. I made also small changes on the shape and color of the No.8 for better visibility. I'm sorry but I don't understand which camo you said. This one or the third of the before post.

EDIT: The brown color(Dark earth) was toned down, reducing the brightness.

LAST EDIT: The arrow in white could be also interesting...this is just a modified photoshop picture(I painted the white on top of the previous picture; ingame will be better)

Hi Lc,

The skin pack download is the one located on the first post. Some other guys like Loupvert and Razor posted also the skins they are using for squadron flights. These skins are meant to be used on the FNBF event but they can be downloaded for anybody that likes them. I didn't post them on the official skin thread due to, even based on a real skin, they had been accommodate for personal use. The one with the shark mouth is not yet ready.

Gentlemen,

The community member Rothary has give me permission to use his excellent Shark mouth to use as a guide for my own version. Even if is not as good as his version this will do the job for now. I will fine tune it with more time.

I want to thank Rothary for his permission and some tips of to how improve my model. I will try my best to keep your advice. Thanks Rothary.

The pack has been upgraded to version 1.02a. The only difference with the 1.02 is the addition of the shark mouth on Biggles plane. Here are some screens.

I've been working on updating Jordan skin to reflect the last mission, getting 28 confirmed ground targets and survived the sortie. I'm also playing around doing some LAGG3 skins if somebody is interested. Here attached and example. Send me a PM if you are interested.
