Our friend Warhamm on the Russian BOS forum has released a new app called IL-2 Commander. Simply put it adds a role-playing / character element to our standard Campaign system through a third party interface. For those that are looking for such a thing this might provide some fun. Why not give it a go.

For me, Google Translate rendered the bit on security thus:

1) This is the exe file. Any exe file could potentially be a virus or some other malicious program. It is primarily a matter of confidence in the supplier. The supplier in this case, me. And with all responsibility I declare that I am not engaged in writing asshole malware. 

 

Should go down in the annals of licencing... This declaration alone is worth giving it a look!

I wrote to the original thread and plead for english translation. That program really looks like it would be valuable addition to the current SP campaign. Let`s hope we get it.

I read the russian forum on this subject.

It looks very promising. Especially if the devs can provide him (and all other people working on a "PWCG-clone") with the tools he asked for.

 

Here's to hoping that one day, not too far away, such a program becomes available.

The SP community definitely needs something like that. (the players I know personally)

This sounds very promising - I liked what I saw after Google-translating the Forum page (especially the security bit posted about above ), but with the program still in Russian it wouldn't do much good for us.  

 

Something like this would definitely tempt me back into flying BoS again, if they can get the graphics problems resolved.

Yep, it seems to iclude both Luftwaffe and VVS. And you can choose fighter, ground attack or bomber career.

Why do you need to decompile it? The program is similar to PWCG if you take away the mission generating part. It can be translated in a week or so, probably less than that.

Guys, check the russian thread. Warhamm, the author, said that those who want to collaborate to the translation should give him their e-mail address, and he will give them access to the decompiled files.

He also said that he doesn't need more than two guys, since there is not a lot to be translated. One has already signed up for it, it seems.

I can only understand what I interpret through Google Translate, so even though I try to be as accurate as I can, don't take it for certain. Seems like communicating with him in english isn't exactly easy (Jason did, with funny results, lol ) but if any of you is interested in helping I suggest you write directly to Warhamm.

New information. Thanks to  = FB = Vaal  Will we use http://translate.google.com  Service. This means that some people can work together on the translation. Volunteers need to give me gmail account and I will give them access to the translate file. One or max two guys. There is not lot of text to translate.

Now that is interesting.....I'm looking forward to this one....Zami...I'm also traveling as well....I guess this will give me a chance to check out the feedback...That's a good thing..since I usually dive head first into just about everything....
