November IS winter in Russia (and here in Finland). Grr...

Anyway, joking aside thanks for the reply :)

Yes, it is, but we're talking about calendar dates)

For how long does my premium edition I pre-ordered as a gift remain valid, can I still give it to one of my buddies as a Christmas present or would that mean trouble?

The time of purchase is tracked. You can activate it at any time !

I just hope a few days after Nov 11th means just that. I'm not sure why you couldn't just say it will be released on the 15th Nov and if there is a reason for this?

In Russia winter 2013 begins on December 01 and ends on February 28. We use these dates in our work.

It's not related to Russia.

It's actually the difference between astronomical and meteorological autumn.

While astronomical autumn begins about 21st September and ended about 21st December (real date depends on the year) meteorological autumn begins 1st September and ends 30th November.

But that's just a note  ;)

Is $59,99 for Standard edition and $99,99 for Premium edition just for the download version or for the boxed version of BoS?

Yes, but there is no reason to use in such work or talk about astronomical dates, do you agree? )

I was hoping for a bit "ratatata" "kaboom" at the very end.

But also sounds good without it.

We have not yet a decision about boxed version of BoS. This will be the download versions.

I agree BlackSix. I have no idea why some people are using the astronomical date  :)

I have to say that planes never before in history of flight sims were sounding better than in this video. Bravo! Finally no flying lawn mowers any more.

Are you serious? Do you have DCS P-51? At least it sounds powerful and mean like real thing. I'll save the final judgment when the BOS is released but so far i'm not that impressed. I don't know if it's the engine sound itself or overdone prop effect or something else(not enough videos to say for sure).

So mid Nov. Ok. Sounds good. Can you guys in the studio do a quick vid of what it is to date? Maybe a take off and some shots at the other plane. And also I  noticed the "chase plane" skipping a bit or "warping" is that a LAN second player or was it an AI plane? As far as the sounds, it is in beta phase I am sure those get more attention. It is a 100$ sim so I would imagine Top of the Line for Top of the Line pricing at final release next year.

Anyone have info on externals? Will things like Saitek gauges work? Multi monitors? Game engine optimized for 8 cores? Multi gfx cards? I am not looking so much at the eye candy but the performance of it. If it skips and studders then whats the point right? Keep in mind guys, screaming across the deck at 450 mph in real life trees are blurs as they zoom by. But again, BETA so good bug tracking and info from the players is key to a good final release. I guess we wait a few more weeks and find out where it stands. We can't know how it performs until we see it on the thousands of different pc builds.

well, well.. there goes the "early autumn access" pre-ordering was supposed to lend towards.. 15th November is hardly early autumn, actually is almost early winter (two weeks shy off, if it won't be even shorter). probably a sign of the things to come (read more delays).

It was early access in Autumn. Not early autumn access. There have been no delays, just a lot of misreading.

Like with everything else it is beside the comparison with the real sounds also a matter of "taste". For example, I am not that impressed with DCS outside sound, especially the flybys, but like the in-cockpit ones.

here ya go DC3 so a slow plane on a low level "high speed" pass.

DCS has great sounds, but I did notice I changed my speakers, and they sounded different. I had to readjust a lot of crap in audio settings. Lol I thought I broke the sound card at first. Maybe some of you guys hear it different due to the last part in your sound systems? Just an exp I had...

All sounds are attenuated and muffled since the aircraft are quite far away in the video. Additionally, can't compare playing DCS P51 module with watching a BoS video. You can compare a recording of DCS P51 with the P51 at the the same view ranges with this BoS video though.

Playing it will be quite different than watching videos of distant aircraft.

While a nice vid clip, it is very hard to capture accurate sound from a cheap or even expensive hand held camera, even with expensive dedicated sound equipment replicating the same sound that you actually hear from inside an aircraft is very hard, let alone capturing the sound heard when wearing headphones/helmet  :)

How should sound be represented in game? (when in cockpit) with, without helmet? it is all very subjective

The game footage sounds great to me from just a short clip, however taken with what we have also seen/heard so far I am very optimistic

Cheers Dakpilot

Although October would have been fun, a mid November release is very good news for me. I need LaGG-3 Section tactics training, as I am a WW2 super noob, but one of my squad's best fighter pilots will not be around until November, at the earliest. It is better that I start up when she is around, so I don't pick up bad habits, like trying to learn how to use a LaGG without the supervision of a highly experienced squad member. Good training, early on, can save me years of hard leasons. Thanks for the update! The video action looks fantastic!

Will there be an NDA on users of the pre release version? Sorry if already asked elsewhere...

So first people are grumpy about not having a date and when we get a date people still look like a bunch of grape.

Awesome. Time to buy a new gfx card and take some time off from work.

Fantastic news. I love the fact that we've got a lead time and it hasn't just been sprung on us - a chance to engineer some time in the schedule and enjoy the anticipation. I'll also jump in and try a ROF campaign to see how things might be in BOS.

Good stuff guys ~

You can see a lot of take offs here on the official YouTube channel

http://www.youtube.com/user/1CGameStudios

No shots at other planes thou - these effects are being worked at this very moment so we could implement them before the early access starts.

On the today's video - it's multiplayer, not AI, not scripts. The skipping was done not to show how the LaGG hits a tree and falls - the visual FX of crashed planes is also being worked at now, I saw it in WIP condition - it looks really great (I mean it) and it will be added to the game by November.

It's still Alpha, not Beta. It's nearly 30-35% of the complete game. Please, gentlemen, keep this in mind.

I was going to say the same. Some of us will never be happy. I too liked the sounds, even at a distance I could hear the engines rev up as the planes dove. The $100 price point caught me off guard a little though. Time will tell on it's effect of scaring away casual gamers. But I think we can help there if the sim looks good during and after testing. Word of mouth, Youtube and the like should garner extra sales for 777.

mwahahahaha chistmas..... you dont stand a chance!

A couple of misread things here.

One, the DC3 I posted showed better how the scenery looked not intended for sounds. But I can get my hands on some high quality ones.

Second, Dak, I was talking more about the trailing plane, it "Skipped" a couple of times towards the beginning I would have to nail a time on it down.

Right at 35 seconds is one of the warps.

Purely inquiring to the net work system in it.

But all in all looking good and yep Alfa stage and I am shocked no NDA we had one for ROF in the first stages. I still have a copy here someplace lol.

Still wondering how open the architecture is. Is it as closed up as previous IL2 series? In short terms, just eye candy for the modders really. Later ones were opened up more. So Is this one opened up for say a transformation mod to Korea for example. The big deal back in the day was, IL2 was locked up so people couldn't hack as Combat Flight sims were taken quite seriously in those days.

There still may be NDA, I don't know guy where did you get this info about the final decision not to have one.

Comparing to ROF in the early days - founders are not beta-testers, so they don't necessarily need to bind themselves with the studios with smth like NDA.

Posted

The warping (0:36) may also be an artefact of playing a MP-track from the ingame-recorder?

Posted

Thanks for the update. Looking forward to trying it out in mid November.

Given the quality we have seen so far with BoS and RoF, I think the final product will be superb.

I am glad to be a part of the early release, and I am happy there are so many founders because these posts have shown me that many of the founders have discerning and critical eyes.

In  a sim of this quality, this is a really good thing because I feel that every minuscule bug will be spotted. I also feel that the developers have been sufficiently reponsive and interactive that all of these bugs that will be spotted in the early release will eventually be corrected.

Well, I'd like to say 'Thanks' for the updates.  Looking forward to more and happy with what's being done so far.

Have a good weekend!

The info comes from Jason. I read it somewhere, can't remember which thread that was? I remember that Jason answered someones Question about NDA and said no NDA. The next what was follow after Jason's answer to NDA Question was  to post youtube videos from the early access (UNCUT). That I can good remember. And I think that is the info what others get, too

I would like to post my early access gameplay footage to Youtube. I am going to have to find out a comprehensive list of all the early access video do's and don't's.  :salute: MJ

Same, would like to be able to post some stuff.

I would of thought any NDA stuff would of had to of been agreed to before buying the sim, not after, so i don't think there will be any NDA.
