kendo Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 (edited) Can anyone explain what the current situation is regarding SweetFX usage? As someone who really enjoyed and appreciated what SweetFX could do with BOS during early access it is a real disappointment to see that it now can not be used - unless, I believe, in-game AA is switched off. Unfortunately on my PC this gives an unacceptable and inferior result even if I use the SweetFX anti-aliasing options. And nVidia AA does not seem to be able to over-ride or compensate for the switched off in-game AA. So I have not been able to use SweetFX for months now. So, some questions: 1. Is this STILL the situation (ie in-game AA OR SweetFX but not both together) or have any solutions been found? For the Devs: 2. Why did SweetFX suddenly become incompatible with in-game AA and is there any possibility of the situation changing in future? Edited February 5, 2015 by kendo
DD_Arthur Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 @Kendo; 1. Yep, it's still one or the other. There are no workarounds. I use SweetFX because for myself, I feel there are more pros than cons when it comes to using it. Interestingly, in RoF I can disable the in-game AA and use SweetFX in conjunction with Super Sampling because the game gives me the graphics options to do so and it looks absolutely fantastic! 1
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 (edited) My advice: Get the SweetFX 2.0 Alpha. It has more feautures, looks better, is easier to install (included auto installer) + it works ith ingame AA enabled. I use it for long now and I have no issues at all with it. -> http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/13649-sweetfx-20-beta-out-today-december-22-2014/ Devs have nothing to do with SweetFX and probably wont ever establish a "support" for it. VBF-12_Stick-95 Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 (edited) I was using SweetFX, mainly for removing the blueish tint in the game and for some contrast. The problem, as you know, is AA. For myself I find that without good AA I get shimmering in the towns and forests, usually at distance. As a result I stopped using SweetFX and at this point I don't mind the colorization. EDIT: Damn, 5tuka, now I'm going to have to give it a try again. Edited February 5, 2015 by VR_Stick
Bullets Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 I also do what Arthyrsmedley does and I WISH BoS had the option to do so too as my RoF looks amazing compared to BoS... (I prefer AA over Sweet FX on BoS)
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 @ VR_Stick and Bullets you might try SweetFX 2.0 instead, works fine with ingame AA Btw. I dont recommend using SMAA as it will seriously reduce plane siluettes at longer distances by blending out pixels. My optimal AA combination is ingame AAx4 + SweetFX FXAA.

Hey . Didn't know this, will give it a go Edit; to be fair to devs, SweetFX is a completely independent project which can be applied to any game using DirectX and Jason commissioned a member of the RoF forum to write the app FlightFX to simplify and encourage its use. 6./ZG26_5tuka Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 No Photoshop, it's with Splitscreen enabled.
VBF-12_Stick-95 Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Having trouble finding the download link.
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 (edited) NP, here's the link: ReShade 0.10.0 Public Beta + SweetFX 2.0 Preview Edit: I see the original download is set to private now. Try this, it's a copy of the original SweetFX client: http://www.mediafire.com/download/k69w8isw91637ab/ReShade_0.12.0_Public_Beta_with_SweetFX_2.0_Preview.rar Edited February 5, 2015 by Stab/JG26_5tuka 1
kendo Posted February 5, 2015 Author Posted February 5, 2015 Thanks 5tuka for the info and everyone else who replied. I'll download Version 2.0 and give it a try. The question to the devs was more for my own info about why it suddenly stopped working rather than putting any kind of blame. Will give this a try now. Be very happy if I get it working again
smink1701 Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 working sort of... i get a bunch of moving dialog type in the upper left and right corners I don't get split screen game looks a bit low res ???

The performance log can be disabled in the Reshade setting fike inside the SweetFX folder. Splitscreen os included in the SweetFX setting file and working properly for me. Don't know about your low res issue though.

VBF-12_Stick-95 Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Up and running. Have it tweaked for the most part. Only thing I'm having an issue with is the stat text in the upper right hand corner. How do you suppress them? I did notice a compilation error when trying to use Tonemap but not a show stopper.

-=PHX=-Satch Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Can anyone explain how make a preset like in the old version?
HammerCed Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Can, please, someone explain how and where edti the keyboard key enabling and desabeling the SweetFX effects in order to see the difference between the normal BOS and BOS with Sweet fx? I personnaly prefer using this method rather than the splitscreen, that by the way I do not know how to configure neither.. If someone can explain one or the other method or even better both that would be great!! Thanks in advance
PA-Sniv Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 In ReShade_settings.txt: Keys should be set to a Windows Virtual Keycode in either decimal, hexadecimal or its VK_ alias Example, ("pause" button on my french layout keyboard): #define ReShade_ToggleKey 19
HammerCed Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Ok Thanks SNIV it works... Would you please give me your settings that I can use? Another question is that me or this version of SweetFX is much more FPS consuming than the previous one? I barely go above 30 FPS... How to desinstall it and revert back to normal BOS? PS: Merci pour ta réponse en tout cas!!!
PA-Sniv Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 To uninstall, see these posts: Delete: 1. Sweetfx Folder 2. D3D9.dll 3. D3D9.Log 4. Sweet.fx I just installed it to see how it worked with ingame AA. Haven't done any preset at the moment...
-=PHX=-Satch Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Excellent! using now with fifi´s settings except SMAA and FXAA (both in 0) AA ingame=4. Beautifull!
PA-Sniv Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Would you please give me your settings that I can use? Here are my current settings. They are based on Jason settings, but slightly modified (I find Fifi settings too 'hard' on my setup). SweetFX_settings.txt Cheers, 2
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 (edited) I'll throw in mine as well Wish I had some actual screenshots to show my settings but I seriously lack time currently Edited February 10, 2015 by Stab/JG26_5tuka 1
Bullets Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 Could anyone send me Fifi's settings for SweetFX 2.0? I used his in ROF and loved them and would like to use them in BOS now? Or at least direct me to where they are posted on here! Cheers :D
Jupp Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 (edited) ~S~ Everyone, I can relate that the old injFX shaders worked a treat for me in Cliffs of Dover. They do not work in Battle of Stalingrad however. I had tried it. Since this, SweetFX, has been updated, and the uninstall looks to be as simple as the injFX's were, I'll have to give this a try and see how I like it. Many thanks for participating in a thread that is more towards the spirit of teaching, learning, improving, and sharing the good within our hobby. Hats Offs! !S -Jupp- Edited June 27, 2015 by Jupp
Rizer Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 BulletsI am use Reshade with SweetFx 2.0, it's Fifi settings for SweetFx 2.0 SweetFX_settings1.txt
Adler_ Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 I'll throw in mine as well SweetFX_settings.txt Wish I had some actual screenshots to show my settings but I seriously lack time currently Wow dude it looks amazing ! Pa-Sniv's is also pretty good! But I feel like 5tuka's has more color!
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 I finally installed this on the new machine. Wow, what a difference ReShader and SFX 2.0 make! The planes look a little better but they are pretty amazing without additional effects. The cockpits and ground textures while good, are now amazing as well. I watched this YouTube video and followed the link, below the player, in the description. I'm a bit of a klutz so I had the networking engineer in the family help but it was pretty straight forward. I used Sniv's profile from the Forum here, not one from thelazy.net. 1
Jason_Williams Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Show some before and after Murf or do a splitscreen. Jason
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 (edited) Before and afters: I think the Bf and He interiors with scenery are the most dramatic differences. I made no in game graphics changes. Just installed the ReShader and SFX 2.0 Beta over the top. I might play with the gamma a bit, later. (I didn't have my technique down for the first two pics so the Bf 1 and 2 are marginally different angles.) Edited July 1, 2015 by [TBC]HerrMurf
-=PHX=-Satch Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Murf please also post pics of your PVC cockpit . I have made one too.
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 My cockpit is on page two of this thread http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/8441-show-us-your-cockpit/?hl=home+cockpit&do=findComment&comment=142513
Jupp Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 ~S~ Everyone, Yeeeep, ReShade for SweetFX installs easily, and works, "as advertised" with IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad. Here are two screenshots I took using Stab/JG26_5tuka's settings from post #28. First Disabled, Second Enabled. Keep 'em Flying, !S -Jupp- 1
slicker55 Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 (edited) Having watched the above video, I would like to try this out but I need a couple of answers please. Is BoS 32 bit or 64 bit? What version of DirectX does BoS use? I'm sure there will be others out there who will also appreciate answers to these questions. Edited August 27, 2015 by slicker55
