Freycinet Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I don't know about BoS of course but in IL2:1946 it was just a matter of adjusting colour of the ForestFar.tga. The point is that as soon as you see it you notice it every time. What has been seen can not be unseen. I am sure they thought about the colours. Even though there is a 'jump' the different colours may be the best compromise. I would like the far-off forests to be somewhat contrasty, compared to the surrounding snowscape, for navigation purposes. It is a sim and therefore an approximation, after all. But hey, if the 'ForestFar.tga' can be modded, then why not?
=BKHZ=Furbs Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Zak already replied to you in the other thread. I hope you're not in I'll-bug-them-about-this-till-I-get-my-way mode about this very unimportant issue. I think it is already fantastic that we get the live sessions and - on top of that - a REALLY quick translated version... Something to be quite grateful for, in my book anyway, so a big thanks to the team for the unprecedented access to their work during development. (But maybe you didn't see Zaks reply even though you posted in the thread later) Frey, i missed Zaks earlier reply in the other thread. Anyway i dont think the dig from you was called for, so back off.

But user-made skins are only working in custom matches and on non-rating servers
=BKHZ=Furbs Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 (edited) How can I get the English subtitles on youtube? Play the vid, then look bottom right side of the screen, click the button second from the left and choose English subs. Edited August 30, 2013 by Furbs
Pollux Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Very nice video! Very good for new abandonment unlocks for BF 109 G2 and Yak1! Thank you to listen to the demands of the community.
III/JG53Frankyboy Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 OMG, the LW pilot got three arms!!! It can move the flaps (left arm) and still wipe his goggles (left arm)! Clear LW bias, I bet the VVS pilots only get two arms! we should be familiar with this, in CoD one was able to use pitch ,throttle and stick in an Bf109E-1/-3 at the same time with this antro'dingens' enabled :D

HippyDruid Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Nice video. The overall product is looking very promising. The lighting, textures and modelling are looking really good. So.... When can I have a go?
76Vandaley Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 (edited) The most beautyful snowy landscape i ever saw in a flight sim. i followed il-2 and your work on RoF a couple `o years and i`m optimistic with u guys...! Really luv the cockpit shake at low rpm. Go ahead guys we`re on the wagon again! Flight model seems close to what we got. Keep on! my x52 is waiting.... until then... Trident_109 Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Something I caught in the video that probably means absolutely nothing but when Loft is starting the engine while preparing to take off he mentions waiting for the grounds crew to clear the plane. Was that a cryptic way of saying there will be modeled grounds crew or was he just joking? I believe the latter, but hoping for the former. Thanks for the vid, guys!

Volkoff Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 It means that the Yak-1 and the Bf 109G-2, which until now were locked until a certain point in the game is reached, are now available right from the beginning. If you want to, you can make your first in game flight in one of these two birds. I can't wait to get my hands on that Yak-1, especially for use with my new virtual squadmates, from 69 GIAP. I can't wait to get my simulated hands on that Yak-1! Might I add, the Yak 1 is going to look lovely in 69 GIAP colors, too! Now, the Bf 109 G-2 is something I can kick around when my squadmates are not around. I have to test fly the Axis rides for research, after all. MJ P.S. Great video from the dev team. The Bf 109 F looks lovely. She will make a nice dance partner for my Yak 1. Hmmm, something about that Bf 109 F makes me think of the Anvil of Crom tune... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHfE682mm3c
Original_Uwe Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Well I guess that means we will never see a Lagg being used online!

FuriousMeow Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 (edited) Well I guess that means we will never see a Lagg being used online! How unfortunate for the Experten to feel like expert aces! Actually, the LaGG will be great for hunting He-111s and Stukas. The Stuka, however, will be a unicorn online. Edited August 31, 2013 by FuriousMeow
Volkoff Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 (edited) Well I guess that means we will never see a Lagg being used online! I think my squad will probably use the LaGG-3 (and IL2, I bet) online against the He-111s and Stukas. If available on a map, I can't see any good reason to favor the LaGG-3 over the Yak-1 or La-5 for hunting 109's/ 190's, escorting Il2's, and the like, though. GAVCA/Jambock__28 Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Awesome video! But I dont like "auto-radiador, auto-misture, auto-RPM limite", I wouldnt see this in my server settings... This feature is game native or possible to be revoked by the server-side?
Heywooood Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 there will be choices, options, selections, check boxes, settings, - the usual
JtD Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Mixture, radiator and rpm-governing are all automatic features of the Bf 109 and it therefore is 100% realistic. The propeller could also be controlled manually if the pilot liked to, but it generally was to be left on automatic.
Feathered_IV Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Well I guess that means we will never see a Lagg being used online! I'd like to say I'd be using the LaGG, but I just know it'll be the Il-2 instead.
theOden Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Well I guess that means we will never see a Lagg being used online! Oh it most definately will but surely not on the open public servers where competitive e-pilots roam.

E69truppen Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Hello, my question is, you can change the number sign and markings of squad? Best regards 1
Volkoff Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 (edited) Oh it most definately will but surely not on the open public servers where competitive e-pilots roam. I think that, over time, experienced IL2 BOS'er s will increasingly use the LaGG-3 on the competitive servers, for the challenge of it. In the Fall, I am going to spend more time using a Yak-1 or La--5, for sure. Over time, I will use the LaGG-3 more, though. In Rise of Flight I have years of experience and I now routinely fly underdog planes. For instance, I use the DH-2 and Halberstadt D.II on The Syndicate Server & New Wings Wargrounds server, even when I can use a Camel, Dr1, SPAD VII, or DVIIf. The more experience I get in IL2 BOS, the less I will depend on planes like the Yak-1, La-5, FW-190, or BF-109, in order to get kills. Still, I will always pick the best ride I can select when I am operating with my squad, because I want to make the best contribution to my squad mates. That what it is, four years from now, I would not be surprised if I am out ambushing 109 pilots and FW-190 pilots, lone wolfing with a LaGG-3, during days I cannot simfly with my squad. Volkoff Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 (edited) Hello, my question is, you can change the number sign and markings of squad? Best regards In the What we know so far about the Battle of Stalingrad section of the forum it is suggested that: Official Skin Packs will be used (as in RoF). (Jason, LOFT) User skinning will be supported with provided templates. (Jason) Based on that information, I take it that we will be able to make our own skins and we can then put on the signs and markings of our squad on our skins. MJ For instance, here is a skin I made for an ROF player, using a SPAD VII template, provided to me by the ROF team. I added a unique custom symbols, colors, patterns, and letters for the ROF player, etc : Edited August 31, 2013 by =69.GIAP=MIKHA
Wind Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 I think that, over time, experienced IL2 BOS'er s will increasingly use the LaGG-3 on the competitive servers, for the challenge of it. MJ Thats the spirit! Digging that attitude! Btw, dumb'ish question : As the game servers are not centralised ( like in some MoGs) there is no way to keep " global stats" updated. But, is there, or has any game tried some kind of "handicap" for these kind of instances? It is understandable that people would, and will, prefer to fly the better performing planes, but with necessary statistics it could be possible to come up with a ratio of X? Like, for example, of all flied hours on LaGG vs Me-109, the ratio would be 1.4 x 1.0? Thus players playing the underdog well could get a positive ratio of X + X vs of 1.0? Just to encourage to fly the more challenging planes? Duuh, sounds complicated, I know, even my brain is trying to tell me to stfu...sorry for that... Nevertheless, as the gaming, especially the online gaming is moving in leaps and bounds, is there any plans with 1c//777 to come up with some New Stuff? With the New Stuff I mean some centralised happenings on the publishers servers (once a month?) with some competitions, flying circus, 4 vs 4, with some Twitch live stream thrown on top of that? Would if require too big server infra or heck, would anyone be even interested in that? I think most of the old school HC simmers will throw frozen turds at my blasphemous ideas, but just thinking aloud how to keep the sim genre viable, vital or even trying to get it Sexy to lure in a new generation. I think the only gaming genre having a more "mature" audience is the Harpoon guys, and their average age seem to push 60+ atm...
FuriousMeow Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Aces High has a score multiplier for planes thate perform terribly or are early war against late war. But, it only goes towards acquiring "perk plane" points that can go towards throwing those points against getting a "super" plane such as the Me262, Me-163, Ar 234, etc. I don't see the point of a score multiplier unless it goes towards something, like gaining first access to the limited planes on servers or something like that. Otherwise it's just for points and "I has teh biggest scorz!" bragging(?).

Original_Uwe Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 (edited) I think the better question is why keep stays at all? It seems silly (to be polite). I mean points? What the heck??? Keeping score? Surely you can't be serious... Edited September 1, 2013 by CWMV

Hi Wind, Well, in ROF you can track global stats for player run servers if the player run server operators elect to participate in the tracking of Global stats. I think that the same thing would happen in IL2 BOS, but you would really have to ask a dev about that, though. For instance, here are the Global stats for my current practice profile and the stats info comes from several different servers: http://stats.riseofflight.com/en/pilot/b77cf903-0a35-4bd5-99cd-ddf0fa8b07dd/ As for the other stuff, I am not too sure how the stats system will be used to encourage the use of planes like the LaGG-3, though I am sure that the system can and may be designed to do what you suggest MJ

ACG_Kraut Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 (edited) Yes I know that Bf had automated radiator and mixture, I am asking if all planes will be automated controls even those who had not... There will be the option in SP to automate features on planes that were not automated historically. You can turn it off to have full control. In MP, this will most likely be a server side option on what to force players to use. I will definitely be in full realism servers only. Edited September 1, 2013 by [AKA]Kraut
