Bussard_x Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Asking this because if aircraft catches fire it's immediately ablaze. Would be nice to have smaller types of fire as well. What I also noticed is that AI keeps flying when set on fire, this could make sense with a small fire not set ablaze.
Finkeren Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Well, for a fuel tank fire (which constitutes most fires we see in game) there's a limit to how small the fire can be to sustain itself. I'd love to see smal fires break out only to be extinguished by the airflow moment later. Apart from that I actually think the different types of fires are nicely modelled. We have fuel tak fires that light up the plane like a torch, there's the engine fire, which is smaller in scale and with less violent flames but which directly damages the engine, and there are the oil fires, which produce thick, black smoke but no visible flames and puts your engines life in a timer.

Engine fires? I will take attention of that, can't remember seeing these.
Finkeren Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Until recently it was the only type of fire in BoS. I think fuel fires were added some 3 or 4 updates ago.
