SYN_Lt_Dan Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Where has this tec been all my life good bye fps counting every thing is so smooth now no stutter no screen tearing Even flights over Starlingrad through the smoke on the six of an enemy no drops what so ever .....well seen by the human eye anyway Dcs world even has a new lease of life ! As long as your fps is staying about 30 you will not see frame drops
1PL-Banzai-1Esk Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Cool , thanks for posting this , I am contemplating buying a G-Sync monitor but was waiting to see if it works in sims as well . Could you confirm is v-sync off in BoS now when you use G-Sync , and if overall FPS is higher because of that? S.

Yes v-sync must be off for g -sync to kick in I'm not sure of the FPS not checked it yet
JG27_Chivas Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Damn, I'm in limbo, and would have a G-Sync monitor right now if I wasn't for the Rift. I've been waiting for a decent monitor to come out for years, but the Rift put that search on hold. I won't need a decent monitor for gaming, and could use any old monitor for surfing the net etc, once VR hardware like the Rift hits the consumer market. Its possible that VR will crash and burn, and the DK2 prototype that I'm testing now, isn't good enough, but the potential is so obvious that its hard to believe VR will fail this time. In retrospect I should have bought a G-Sync monitor instead of the Rift prototype. That said it appears they've settled on the hardware parts required for the first Rift consumer version, with the form factor, and manufacturing process still to be done, so a release by the end of 2015 is still possible.
SYN_Lt_Dan Posted August 27, 2014 Author Posted August 27, 2014 Yeah got the monitor as I'm not going to get the Rift until its finished
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 (edited) Is there real difference compared to 120Hz monitor with ~2 ms input lag? Edited August 27, 2014 by tomcatqw
SYN_Lt_Dan Posted August 27, 2014 Author Posted August 27, 2014 never tried one so wouldn't know i come from a 5ms one the view with trackir is great nil lag its one of them things you just have to see for your self
SYN_Lt_Dan Posted August 27, 2014 Author Posted August 27, 2014 Na you won't like it V get ya money back mate ! haha
Mabroc Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 (edited) Or wait a couple of months for the monitors with the new VESA standard that include the same thing created by AMD but FREE. So the monitors are cheaper and any videocard no matter the manufacture (Intel, Nvidia, AMD, etc) can use it, is only something to put on the driver. http://www.vesa.org/news/vesa-adds-adaptive-sync-to-popular-displayport-video-standard/ I have an AMD card an didn't buy a new monitor just for that reason Edited August 27, 2014 by Mabroc
1PL-Banzai-1Esk Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 I can't decide which one to get though. This one: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/27-asus-pg278q-rog-swift-g-sync-144hz-monitor-whqd-displayport-2560x1440-350-cd-m2-1ms-2xusb-30-port or this: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/28-acer-xb280hkbprz-4k2k-g-sync-led-gaming-monitor-displayport-3840x2160-300cd-m2-10m1-1ms-usb-hub 4K seems to be more future proof , but I am worried that BoS is not going to support such high resolution Loft stated few months back that they will for this tech to sell in millions before they even look at it. Any thoughts on this guys? Any 4K monitors user out there?
19RAF_MJDixon Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 I pre-ordered an XB280HK a while back (4k G-sync), which should be here in a week or two I think. Looking forward to it - my GPU probably isn't though
SYN_Lt_Dan Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 (edited) haha yeah i was looking at the 4k one aswell but didn't fancy having smoke coming out of my gpu its been through enough lately lol I got the Rog swift PG278Q witch is 2560x1440 1ms 144hz seems to be just right for my gpu Edited August 30, 2014 by SYN_Lt_Dan
SYN_Vorlander Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Received and installed my ASUS g-sync monitor today. It's absolutely fantastic. Makes a huge difference in BOS and ROF.
FuriousMeow Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 (edited) I'm still waiting on my PG278Q gsync pre-order from TigerDirect. Looks like, at earliest, end of this month but so far the release for these in NA have been terrible. First end of June, then July, then August, then first week of Sept, now end of Sept. At this rate, I'll bet the 4K from Acer is in the US before the PG278Q. Maybe even the OR's CV1 will be out before this, I wouldn't mind that - I'd cancel my PG278Q order. Saitek's X55 rollout was better than this, I actually received my pre-order before the announced date - and so did many others, but Asus keeps pushing it back in the North Americas. Yes I was reading at OCUK forum that one of their buyers said that Asus can't make em quick enough there selling like hot cakes in the uk 100 a day!
CaK_Rumcajs Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Got mine PG278Q a week ago and I love it. It really makes a difference. No stuttering, no tearing. And on top of it it's 2560 x 1440. I just hope that in some time in the future there will be 4K technology with g-sync or free sync available and that there will be graphics cards powerful enough to provide us with high FPS under 4K res.
=LD=Penshoon Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 I got my ROG Swift the last week of July and so far I'm very happy with it. Only thing i'm disappointed by is that you need to run games full screen mode to use g-sync. I have to alt-tab to manipulate the second monitor. Have anyone tried the new LightBoost yet?
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 They have new or better Lightboost technology in g-synced monitors?
LLv34_Flanker Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 S! So how much premium do you have to pay to get GSync? Say I want a good 27" screen + 780Ti..Compared to a normal 27" screen and a 290X, for example. I wait for the new VESA standard FreeSync.
=LD=Penshoon Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 They have new or better Lightboost technology in g-synced monitors?Yeah they have aperently improved and released it as a sequel, think its called ultra low motion blur (ULMB). Don't know if you have to use blurbusters software anymore. Think ive read that it doesnt work with gsync though. Will be good for older games where you max your refresh rate anyway.
