Juri_JS Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 I have bought the game a few days ago, so I am not sure if this has been discussed before. When using z/x to control the rudder/yaw it is very difficult to accurately re-center the rudder, especially during hectic situations like dogfights. For people without rudder pedals controlling the plane could be made much easier by adding a key command that automatically re-centers the rudder.
Finkeren Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 There are still ppl controling rudder with the z-x keys?? Anyway, it's a reasonable request, and most other flight sims I think have it. Still, get yourself some pedals or at least a twister stick. You'll be glad you did.
Sokol1 Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 (edited) There are still ppl controling rudder with the z-x keys?? Yes, there still people using keys for control rudder, even using keyboard and mouse to steer the plane. Remember the plan: "Make the game accessible"? @ Juri_JS The game follow the rule: "Less keys is better". So seems two keys for rudder control is sufficient, although we have to use up to 6 keys for control trim attitude on different planes ... Anyway, this issue with rudder keys was noted from the beginning, say that even by Beta Testers, so dont have much hope that will change... and follow the previous post advice buying a "twist" joystick or rudder pedal, at end you can fly with keyboard/mouse, but dogfight? Juri_JS Posted August 27, 2014 Author Posted August 27, 2014 Both the old Il-2 and CloD have a "rudder neutral" command, so it would be strange if the same option wouldn't be available in BoS. There are still ppl controling rudder with the z-x keys?? Of course I don't have exact figures, but I would guess that a majority still doesn't use pedals when playing flight sims, especially most casual players and people new to the genre. I am playing flight sims since the first Red Baron and never felt the need to use pedals. Anyway, we all have different preferences and a re-center option would be a good step to make BoS as accessible as possible for different kinds of players.
Jaeger55 Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 No peddles for me, but the twist rudder is much easier than using the keys .
