FTC_Kildren Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 So last night joined a server for about 3 hours and was just having fun jumping into deafbees HE111 with leaf and being gunners and my god its fun but really i feel for gunners in bombers the firing arcs are terrible and when enemies do come into the sight there not there for to long and 7.92 are not really that effective half the time we were dieing before they could be shot at.
Half-DevilPorkChop Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Yes its probably better to fly in a formation or as a escort then as a gunner.
DeafBee Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Yes it was great fun Kildren. I think it is like ROF where it takes a lot of practice to be a succesful gunner. I stil find it even harder than flying. At one point we did have fighters support us, and we lived longer. I am amazed how fun the new 111 bomber is in the game. Already deaming of events with big bomber formations escorted by fighters. (My biggest deam is another theater with my all time favorite bomber the B-17....oh boy)

We'll surely make even bigger ones once we get proper servers. :D
ECV56_SkyHell Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 (edited) Question.... when you choose "BECOME A GUNNER", you choose the gunner position, but, you can´t change to another free station in game? Edited August 25, 2014 by SkyHell

ECV56_SkyHell Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 THANKS FOR THE TIPS! My friends want to join me in my plane, but they want to change the station like I do. I hope the developers change this in the future. Sorry for my english!
vonHGenchou Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 (edited) Concerning gunner control, can someone explain me how to setup turret control in IL2 ? I briefly tried to take control of a turret on the EU Expert server but although I was able to look around with the TrackIR, I couldn't find out how to actually move the gun. I noticed the T binding for "taking control" but when I do that, not only am I unable to move the gun but I can't look around anymore. What option do I need to edit in order to be able to move the gun with the mouse while looking around with TIR ? Edited August 26, 2014 by vonHGenchou
SYN_Saintblu Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 There are three inputs you need. 1. Jump to next combat position 2. Take control of turret 3. Lean to turret. You will find them all together under weapons options in settings/controls. I found it easier to change the default key inputs to numbers 1,2 and 3 on the number pad. Don't forget to press "r" to cock the guns. You need to map another key to "switch firing position" which enables you to use the other available guns allocated to an individual gunner position if available.
vonHGenchou Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 (edited) Nope, doesn't work. I can "take control" and "lean to turret" but there is nothing I can do to move the turret around. It is stuck in its position and I see no axis control for the turret. Edit : Those are the most probable controls I found for moving the turret. Yet, moving the mouse does nothing. Bungmiester Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 The hat switch on my joystick moves the turret, if that helps .
Sokol1 Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 vonHGenchou, I am are not able to move the turret with mouse, but I can with joystick POV HAT - what is useless to aim. Sokol1
Emgy Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 (edited) I found these controls that were by default bound to mouse. Check if you have them bound: Pilot head controls - Bow pilot head - mouse y and Turn gunner's head Mouse X And (probably not helpful but worth a try) - Camera controls: inpcam_rotate_yaw : mouse x and inpcam rotate pitch: mouse Y. Not sure if this has an effect: in Camera options (not under control options) what mode you have set, try setting to Pan camera mode and see if it helps. Edited August 26, 2014 by Calvamos
