ii-ViCioUs-SwE__ Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Hello, I wonder what you think is the better version of this game. Is it the one on Steam or here on il2sturmovik.com? Thank you for your time. Sincerely, ii-ViCioUs-SwE__
dburne Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 (edited) Welcome to the forums! From my post to your question on the Steam forum: " They are both the exact same. Question is do you want it available in your Steam games or not? If you get it direct from their website, you will not be able to add it to your Steam games , at least currently - that may change in the future, but I understand that is more a Valve thing than a BOS thing.I personally pre-bought back when it was first available direct from their website, as I would do again today if I were buying it, but I really do not use Steam's interface for my games, other than Cliffs of Dover. If you use Steam and prefer to have all your games available in the Steam interface, then get it from Steam. I just posted it on the official forums and Steam to see where I would get a reply first.

With the website key you can't validate it in steam.
PreachR Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 I think the version from the website is better for 2 reasons: 1. More money goes to the developers of this great sim. That means a more successful project, and more motivation for expansion in the future. 2. Anytime you can run a game with one less application open (Steam), you will get slightly better performance. I'm not sure how much, if any, performance is lost due to the Steam client running in the background, but I would imagine is uses, at least, a little bit of memory. 3
IVJG4-Knight Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 If i had to buy Il2 bos all over again i would buy it from the website if more money goes to the devs . But this is me. 1
FuriousMeow Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Website. More money to devs, no waiting for Steam to approve patches, no need to launch Steam first to play, no need to keep updating Steam and then the game, no need to keep changing installation paths for titles because Steam wants to install in only one drive - I install my games on several different drives, Steam is a hinderance to that, and I use shortcuts on my desktop to play my games - so Steam is not an "all-in-one-library" many pass it off as. I have Steam, its fine and works but I have zero need for it and the only use I have for it is for the titles I've purchased through it because they have been on sale. VAC is also mediocre, at best, for anti-cheating - the one title it should support the best and keep the scripties away from - Counter-Strike - it fails at so successfuly it should be renamed VPC (Valve Pro Cheat). 1
DD_Arthur Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Get it from the website = more income for the devs = more development of the game. Simples!
