BOBC Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Hi, Getting a video card to play CoD and considering GTX780 4Gb which in a comparison chart with other vid cards was showing as Direct X 11. CoD was requiring DX10 when released. Has it been adjusted for DX11 and if so by whom ? Has it any issues under DX11 different to DX10 ? Can a vid card declaring DX11 be adjusted to run a sim if its only ok with DX10 or maybe vid cards are backwards compatible with earlier Direct X ? BOBC
Tektolnes Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 It's no problem at all. It'll run great with that card.
Picchio Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 CloD does run on DirectX 10. Any GPU supporting DirectX 11 is backwards compatible. Don't be worried.
dburne Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Yep, my GTX 770 runs Cliffs of Dover beautifully.

BOBC Posted August 24, 2014 Author Posted August 24, 2014 Thanks guys, Can't wait to get it going. I shall need an idiots guide to getting it setup, what to install and in what order. Is there a link or thread to such, after I have done the basic install from Steam of course, and I have never used Steam, give me a traditional CD anyday ! I need an 'in a nutshell' page rather than have to read many pages of chat and updates if possible. Patch 4.2 looks good, I saw a lengthy video though where aircraft had what looked like frost over them, awful, but read that 4.2 removes that now. The Hurris at the start also looked very dark, no way as good as the default colours, Hurri still image in flight in another thread in 4.2 looked ok. I have my screen spyder3 calibrated for graphics etc and so it delivers correct colours. I wont be altering it to lighten up dark hurris but the scenery they were in looked fine anyway. BOBC
MiG21bisFishbedL Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 The install thread on the ATAG forums is pretty idiot proof. It's just a matter of installing the game, then installing modfiles in sequential order.

BOBC Posted August 24, 2014 Author Posted August 24, 2014 (edited) Hi, Just what one needs. I am confused though as I read of 4.0 superceded by 4.2 but the link talks of 4.3 and 4.312 so I guess 4.2 is already superceded. shows the frosted up effect which I was glad to see gone in the still I saw of 4.2, not sure though why it was added in to start with, must have been around a while as videos have been made with it, also that Hurricane starts flying forwards but then points upwards yet the landscape is still passing by as before so now its underside is leading the way ! How odd. I hope that view is an option, I will go for camera view showing where the nose is going. BOBC Edited August 24, 2014 by BOBC
