How is 3d vision ( strereoscopic) on Steam ?

Anyone is playing with 3D vision on Steam's BOS ? Is it working? Is there any problem with stereoscopic todate? I've searched the forum and up to May, stereoscopic with 3D vision was good, want to know how is it under Steam. Thanks.

BoS is BoS. Just now it's available thru the official website OR on Steam. It's like selling at Walmart and Target. Same product. It'll work the same.

That said, I don't have 3D setup but was flying with a guy who was using it and said its incredible.

Yeah I'm playing it in 3d using passive interleaved monitor with TriDef  software. It works great just the same as ROF does. The only artefact I am getting is the depth of the moon is a little off. Apart from that it is perfect and simply stunning in 3d with head tracking. The first time I pulled on to a 109s' tail in a vertical dive from 5000m  I felt giddy with vertigo .

I  tried uploading some 3d footage to YouTube  but  the resolution gets hit pretty hard when you upload 3d to YouTube. Watching it back on YouTube  really doesn't do it justice. It runs on my average pc at 60fps 1080p on balanced settings on a single gtx670 card. Which is surprisingly good even with all the clouds and smoke.

The tracers in 3d is an advantage for long range shooting...

That's really good to hear, since it works on Tridef, there might be a very good chance it will also work on 3D Vision given that it did up to this last May. I have ROF and it worked well on 3D Vision when I played around 4, 5 years ago. Now that I plan to get back on 3D gaming, BOS seems a perfect candidate. BTW, are you playing BOS with Tridef on Steam?

It is working for me, but there are some problems (nvidia 3D Vision).

No. I'm not playing through steam. Now you mention it, I have to start the BOS launcher through the Tri Def launcher. But Tri Def has a "Running through Steam" option. I imagine all 3d software would have something similar since Steam is so popular.

3D Vision doesn't have it. Nvidia has most likely stopped support/development for this wonderful 3D technology. I hope the Rift will pickup the slack when the consumer version is out.

Well:
1) you have to use balanced graphics setting,
2) clouds becomes transparent when meet airplane cockpits elements
3) texts names of objects are flat 2d and render in double
4) motion blur of hot air look bad
5) dual gpu/sli graphics cards are not full supported yet

Thanks. I have very low expectation for Nvidia's support of its own technology and would be happy with alll the above limitations/issues with the hope that some clever user/developer will eventually fix it.

With regard to labels, I've come acrossed this thread, not sure it applies to #3 above (don't have the game yet), would be interested if it does:

Yes helix mod is working. But you have to adjust depth of labels during game (for far labels).

In reply to point 2 you can get around this by turning stereo separation to minimum and then using Ctrl-F6 to increase convergence until you have the desired stereo effect.

While I'm on does anyone know how to remove game name and callsign from top left corner of screen while flying. I can remember my callsign without assistance even at my advanced age...

Flowbee you saved not only this game, but also clod for me.  Suddenly yesterday I was able to achieve good settings for this game and Clod suddenly started getting separation (previously it never worked - the glasses would shutter but no separation occurred)  I don't know if this was a result of the new drivers NVidia released or what other magic occurred, but between the driver changes and the tips you provided I can actually play in 3d like I had originally intended.  Thank you very much sir.

For me this method is no no. Using minimal depth and this covergens is pointless. Much much better is full depth - i can live with clouds issue and wait for full support like ROF has.
