right click desktop,

nvidia control panel,

manage 3d settings,

global settings

preferred graphics processor

and change it to high performance NVIDIA processor

Somebody needs to make a sticky about this as a lot of folk don't know that laptops will have integrated graphics as default

Step 1: see above about setting nvidia gpu to default.

Also, M series cards at higher resolutions hate antialiasing and SSAO. Your choice may be to balance either high resolution OR antialiasing OR graphic quality. This is the unfortunate reality of laptop GPU. For play I prefer antialiasing off with highest resolution and low graphics for best frame rates.

It is a pity we only have preset graphics settings. There are really two types of GPU out there - not nvidia/AMD, I mean desktop and mobile. (Nowadays many desktops have mobile chips too.) High power desktop cards chew through AA and SSAO and other calculation intensive tasks, but mobile chipsets are optimised mostly for just throwing triangles on screen. As such they require different optimisation to get the most graphically out if the game. It would be great if we had a "mobile" switch to turn off these features that tax mobile GPUs while retaining the other graphical effects which do not effect FPS. Oh well.

You have both been extremely helpful. Thank you.

I hope to see you in the skies, here and in the Skies of the Western Fronts of WWI.

This should be pinned.
