Chuck_Owl Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Hello everyone! I woke up this morning not knowing what life would bring and I decided to navigate through the dark depths of the Internet. Not finding anything useful, I decided to check on scribd to see if I could find anything related to World War 2 Russian Aviation. And guess what I found? Some of Yefim Gordon's books in pdf. FREE! Go on http://www.scribd.com/ and in the research bar type "gordon-y". You will find many very interesting books that are usually just not available for us westerners. http://www.scribd.com/search-documents?query=gordon-y Among these, there are his books about the MiG-29, Su-27, MiG-31, Su-37, MiG-15 and MiG-21. But even more importantly, there are his books about Soviet Combat Aircraft (fighters and twin-engines, volume 1 and 2 respectively). There they are: http://www.scribd.com/doc/119084245/Gordon-Y-and-Khazanov-D-1998-Soviet-Combat-Aircraft-of-the-Second-World-War-Volume-1-Single-Engined-Fighters http://www.scribd.com/doc/215014847/119084646-Gordon-Y-and-Khazanov-D-1999-Soviet-Combat-Aircraft-of-the-Second-World-War-Volume-2-Twin-Engined-Fighters-Attack-Aircraft-and-Bombers For those who do not know why this is so incredibly cool, just make a quick search on amazon and look at how much these books "cost". Yep, some of them are that "rare". http://www.amazon.ca/SUKHOI-SU-27-Yefim-Gordon/dp/1857802470/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=undefined&sr=8-4&keywords=yefim+gordon+su-27 9

Finkeren Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 That's awesome! I keep wondering how something like Scribd can be legal, but apparently it is
SYN_Mike77 Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 That's awesome! I keep wondering how something like Scribd can be legal, but apparently it is I'm guessing the books are in public domain now?

Matt Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 (edited) Scribd is legal and reading books on Scribd is legal too. Uploading books on Scribd without owning the copyright usually isn't (and it's against their rules anyway). And they'll probably take them down, so grap them while they're on it, if you don't want to buy them. Edited August 21, 2014 by Matt
JtD Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 (edited) Back in my days they used to have things called library. It was a place where they printed out pdfs, stored them and you could rent them for free, in case they were too expensive to buy. It was completely legal. Every bought WW2 aviation book is a tiny bit of further research and publication going to happen. Gordon's books are well worth buying. Edited August 21, 2014 by JtD 1
MarcoBertozzi Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 These two books have been published some 15 years ago by Midland Publishing Ltd. Midland Publishing went astray, and Ian Allan Publishing went on distributing the remaining stock at a bargain price. If you check at Ian Allan's, it seems to me there's nothing left by Midland anymore, but I can't say if they still keep the ownership of the copyright - if they ever had it. The cover price of the books was £. 24,95 ($. 39,95). I understand free is better. Marco
