csacwp Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 First off, I'd like to say how excited I am about this game, and how fantastic it is! You've done a great job capturing the look and feel of IL-2 1946 and the game runs extremely well on my gaming laptop, which is somewhat outdated! Here's a few things I think the game needs/would make the game better: 1. Destructible buildings. Your bomb effects are awesome and epic, but when I dive bomb structures or hit them with rockets, there is no visible damage done to them. This is really disappointing and makes the sim less immersing. 2. Summer map of Stalingrad? There wasn't snow on the ground during the first phases of the battle, and while snow blindness is fun (and you've managed to beautifully and realistically recreate the challenges of flying in a snowy environment) it'd be great to have the option to fly on a non-snowy map of Stalingrad. 3. Fire/smoke above Stalingrad. By many accounts, Stalingrad (for most of the battle) was ablaze and the sky above the city and the surrounding area was pitch black with smoke and glowing red with fire. Germans soldiers reported that from afar the city looked like hell itself. Do you have plans to recreate this? When flying over the city in the game now, it looks like a sunny, happy day with only a small plume of smoke here or there. I've got no suggestions other than these. Awesome job! 1
gx007 Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 welcome csa, 1) I can't answer about buildings. I know AAA gets destroyed. 2) It's been said before by devs that if the sim is successful, then other maps and planes are to follow. On an interesting note, there are summer skins already in the game, which leads one to believe... 3) The devs are well aware of the massive scale of the battle and truly desire to recreate it, however it's been stated that adding more particles will bring lower, and unacceptable, fps. So it seems they are trying for a happy middle ground with the current smoke rendering.

The Battle of Stalingrad depict on game is a specific period starting with Russian encirclement, on November 19, 1942, when it was winter. 3. Fire/smoke above Stalingrad. A topic - from Russian forum - about sky over Stalingrad (then and now), the OP argue that for the period depict, no more the big oil smokes... ? http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=auto&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fforum.il2sturmovik.ru%2F Sokol1
