Multi- engine configuration with a CH Quadrant

From what I have seen so far you have 2 completely independent sets of

controls for engine 1 and engine 2 in the engine settings.

You cannot choose engine 1 or 2 and adjust the prop, mixture, etc by selecting

it.

Nor from what I have seen so far you can't select both/all engines with the setting.

I would almost need another CH quadrant to set up both engines.

So what do you do with just one CH Quadrant controller without a bunch of

complicated button programs?

You can't map the same axis to multiple assignments?

So for

engine 1 mixture = Axis A

engine 2 mixture = Axis A

Engine 1 throttle = Axis B

Engine 2 throttle = Axis B

That should give you control over both engines with only one quadrant (if it works) for the rare cases where you need to control them individually you would have to use the keyboard.

I hope they do put in ''select engine 1'' select engine 2'' and ''select all engines'' like

the previous IL-2 games or the bombers won't be worth the hassle flying.

Selecting switching engine gives you the option to have all the controls on the same Quadrant

My set-up would be the same as Cliffs of Dover.

Lever 1 to 6 from left to right ,Prop pitch, mixture, brakes, water rad,oil rad, flaps.plus all the buttons.

Switching independently from 1 engine to the other or selecting all engines to synchronize, fine tune, tweak

and if need be shut down on the way back to base.

I guess it depends how far they want to go with the immersion.

In IL-2 1946 vanilla and with mods and Cliffs of Dover you use those controls often getting

shot up constantly in a bomber online.

If you want to make it back to base and not end up a flaming wreck on the ground.

All of those commands have been there from the very beginning.

I have seen some issues when rrying to start one of the engines by itself. I sekect "1" and i can get it to start. But when selecting "2" i cannot get the motor to turn over. And the magneto animation does not move for engine "2". Although this was pre the recent patch and have not tested it out.

I've been mucking about with single engine control in the PE2 yesterday, and I thought it was a bit unclear how exactly the system works;

It seems to be like this:

pressing 1 is "turn engine 1 control on/off" and 2 is "turn engine 2 control on/off"

0 is "select all engine control".

When starting at the parking area, my first intuition was to start engine 1, so I pressed 1 followed by E to start, and to my great surprise engine 2 started.

does this mean the plane starts with both engines selecter (ie. "0 mode") and pressing 1 causes engine 1 control to go to the off position, leaving your control to enigne 2.

Is there a way to see which engine(s) is/are currently selected?

The only current solution I have is to see which lever (thottle for example) moves in the cockpit.

It would be easier for the user to have different buttons for select and unselect an engine, instead of the current toggle (same button doing different actions).

I have configured my CH Quadrant for 2 engines planes like this :

 2 first levers : X axis engine 1, Y axis engine 2 (throttle -- direct X axes. deadzone 4)

button 1 (control manager --- under first axis) (up) : 0 (sel/unsel all)

 button 2 (control manager --- under first axis) (down) :1 (sel/unsel 1)

 Detent (button 14 in CM) : 1 (sel/unsel 1)

Minzone : nothing

button 3 (control manager --- under second axis) (up) : 0 (sel/unsel all)

 button 4 (control manager --- under second axis) (down) : 2 (sel/unsel 2)

Detent (button 16) : 2 (sel/unsel 2)

Minzone : nothing

With this I can manage engines of the PE2 (only the throttle part). Mixture and pitch on one axis each.
