3instein Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Hi guys, Sorry if this has been asked before but does anybody know if Pat will be doing something like this for BOS? His campaign generator is awesome for Rise of Flight and was wondering if this would even be possible with BOS, hoping it could be. Cheers, Mick.
71st_AH_Hooves Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 AS far as I know Pat Wilson is only interested in WWI. Im pretty sure we would ALL love him to work on WWII, I guess all we can do is beg and plead with him!
Leaf Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Unfortunately he said he isn't going to make one for BoS. We'll just have to wait to see how good the singleplayer is.
Jason_Williams Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 There will always be people who want a PWCG option. Pat will send his code to any competent programmer who wants to make such a generator for BOS. However, it's coded in Java. Jason
Cybermat47 Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 I asked him about this earlier, and Jason is right
3instein Posted August 17, 2014 Author Posted August 17, 2014 Cheers for the info guys. You never know what the future holds. Mick.
SharpeXB Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Yeah I hope to see something like PWCG eventually for BoS.
LLv24_Zami Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Yeah I hope to see something like PWCG eventually for BoS. +1 Somekind of career mode like in RoF would be great.
Sim Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 While not exactly the same thing as Pat's campaign generator, I am currently working on a command-line utility that can generate historical BoS missions. My goals for this tool/utility is to have: - Historical squadron/unit deployments (and relocations) - Historical weather and atmospheric conditions - Focus on decorated airfields based on currently active units (e.g. lots of static stukas early on in Karpovka, transports in Tatsinskaya/Morozovskaya) - Front lines and army deployments visualized on the 2D/3D maps based on current mission date - Briefings telling you not only your current flight or weather conditions, but also current battle situation on the ground and other interesting events/engagements/operations - Historical pilots (and randomly generated pilots) for some personal touch - More varying mission types (including simple types like rebase missions) - Support for off-map airfields (as in transport missions coming from Millerovo/Novocherkassk/Salsk) - Long term support for more battles (as with upcoming Velikiye Luki map) - Long term support for multiplayer coop missions It's just happened that this project was a perfect fit and was naturally born from my passion for history, aviation and programming/coding. While generated missions do follow exact unit/squadron placement and battle conditions - the actual flights are completely dynamic and random. Thus it's very unlikely you will ever get an identical mission going. Think about it as a very advanced historical quick mission generator. You can just double click the utility and get a completely random mission going. Although you will be able to also customize and requests specific mission conditions using command-line parameters: choose country, date/time or event specific unit/squadron. At the very moment I have a proof-of-concept kind of thing going with basic mission generation working. Lots of things still to do. Let me know if you feel you could find a use for such a tool and if you have any ideas/requests. 5

I would like to offer any assistance but unfortunately I am useless at computer coding and stuff. If there is any "simple" stuff that you need a hand with, let me know. Mick.
FlatSpinMan Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Sounds very interesting to me! Good luck with this, Sim. I have no idea what it involves, but it does sound really interesting.
VBF-12_Stick-95 Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Good luck Sim, sounds like a winner. Not to take anything away from your attempt, I wonder if Lowengrin will be writing a Dynamic Campaign Generator similar to his IL2 1946 one for BOS. http://www.lowengrin.com/news.php
