finding your home base?

Hey, bit of a noob question - how do you find your home base? When you get the RTB order, you look at the map and all the airbases are grey! Is there a way to tell even which are friendly?

 

Also, related, can you re-arm and re-fuel at your base?

I guess you're talking about the quick mission builder.

 

There it really doesn't make much difference, because there is no active front line to land on the wrong side of.

 

In QMB one of the airfields is usually equipped with hostie AAA, just avoid that one and you'll be fine.

 

In multiplayer there is a front line, and airfields are clearly marked on the map as belonging to one side (on lower difficulty anyway). The same will be the case with the career mode.

 

On planes that come equipped with radio navigation, that can point you to the nearest friendly base. I think the Soviet system is called RPK-10 and is installed on the La-5, Pe-2 and as a modification on the Yak-1. I'm not 100% sure, but I think only the Ju 87 has direction finding equipment on the German side.

 

Refuel, rearm is not a part of BoS and likely won't be.

In QMB your RPK-10 only points to a single base, your home base, as there is only 1 NDB per map.

 

In multiplayer it points to the nearest base (at the moment).

I often wonder if you can destroy the beacon and deprive your enemy of homing...I may try destroying my own to see what happens.

You can use a big printable map to help nav too
