SOLIDKREATE Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 (edited) So I am creating an online unit for game. My unit is I./JG54 and I am unsure of it's structure and camo schemes used during that war. I am also unsure if all planes had outlined numbers or just the high ranking pilots?I have attached an image for review and an excel spread sheet for you to edit and send back to me if you can. Can anyone please help me or direct me to a book that has this kind of information. I-JG54 Structre.zip Edited August 8, 2013 by [I/JG54]SPEKTRE76 1
I/JG27_Zimmi Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 I'm not specialist on this topic so please correct me, but as far as I can see from my books I assume that in the early war years the guidelines for camouflage and tactical markings was rather strict and in many cases satisfied. With advancing war duration more and more minor variations appeared (even within one Gruppe). So its rather impossible to say this and that marking is correct. However, I have never read about outlined or contoured numbers to be reserved for higher ranked or Schwarm- or Staffelführer only. I suggest to grab a book of JG54 and adapt your structure information on photos of the time you are interested in (I suppose '42 - '43). PS: It's "weiß" not "weib" (which means "broad, female"). You could as well write weiss instead of the ß sign.
SYN_Ricky Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 During some periods JG54 used some pretty unusual paintschemes, apparently using sometimes stocks of paint left over by the russians. For the structure, look here: http://www.ww2.dk/air/jagd/jg54.htm
