Blooddawn1942 Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Thats true. But for the cause of BoS I guess I will leave a comment here and there and answer some questions. Regardless of the nonsense that is beeing written over there. The more folks that joins our ranks, the more likely we will see BoS expand in the future. And regardless what one may think of Steam, there is a huuughe customer potential over there which will hopefully boost the BoS sales.

Blooddawn1942 Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Nice. One more in the ranks of us proud BoS pilots. And even better, in a matter of 5 posts, he decided to purchase a joystick. So it has to be. Great. :-) But I'm wondering how many will get BoS comming from WT thinking that they can handle it with mouse steering. Thats gonna be a rude awakening. Maybe in the advertisement there should be a hint, that BoS should be enjoyed with a stick? In the end this could spare 777 some frustrated customers who had the wrong expectations regarding BoS and starting shitstorms in the steamforum.
LuftManu Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 (edited) Just a question, I have the Standard and the Fw 190, I want to buy the La-5, and in Steam is better for me for special reasons , Will steam let me buy the plane, if I do not own the game? If I succed buying the plane, will let me a CD key that I can register in my profile here? EDIT; It says You need Bos in steam to buy this DLC, so I need to wait Thanks Edited August 16, 2014 by Manu_vc

Hopefully this is something the devs fix but no one knows what will happen right now.
LuftManu Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 You can not transfer your current BoS keys to Steam. Hopefully this is something the devs fix but no one knows what will happen right now. Yes I knew, I Just want it on Steam to buy the DLC from there. nothing more
MiG21bisFishbedL Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 You can not transfer your current BoS keys to Steam. Hopefully this is something the devs fix but no one knows what will happen right now. Not up to the Dev's, apparently that's Valve's own restriction.
BaiCaiX Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 (edited) You don't need to own ROF on Steam to participate in the discussion. Just have a Steam account. Jason Thanks to all that have supported us on Steam answering questions and showing the positive side to the community. It will be hot an heavy all weekend I am sure so please if you have time let's continue to educate people who ask questions. Jason There is a big difference between review and participate in the discussion. Steam users are habit to see reviews in the game store page . They can know the advantages of this game, as well as to understand some situations such as what is the different between BoS and Clod. Then players would not have so many questions and been affected by malicious comments. Not up to the Dev's, apparently that's Valve's own restriction. There must be another way to solve this problem. Just yesterday, I got the Advanced Tactics Gold steam activation key from matrixgames. Totally free. And I purchased the game in September 19, 2013 on their website. Edited August 16, 2014 by BaiCaiX
LuftManu Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 The Devs can give us the Keys from their games, without need to be Steam in the middle, just PM us the keys from the Planes and the Edition of the game

To be honest, when I saw this post I wasn't sure whether this person was trolling or just waiting to unleash...but he asked nicely and damn, it was a pleasant surprise to see.

RainMan Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Thanks for bringing it to steam. I bought it off of there yesterday after an enlightening reply on the forum there was made. It's a nice addition to my DCS addiction, especially considering a fully realized WW2 environment. Flying over Stalingrad is an eye-opener.

superbuster11 Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Everyone, As you may have seen BOS is now up on Steam. There are many questions in the discussion portion about how well does it work and if it's worth buying. We can't possibly answer all the questions and comments and of course we think everyone should buy it, but that doesn't help. If you'd like to help us give an impression of how BOS is doing we'd appreciate it. Please be civil of course. http://steamcommunity.com/app/307960/discussions/0/ Thanks, Jason Steam says that: "TO PLAY THE GAME YOU NEED AN ACCOUNT AT https://il2sturmovik.com USE YOUR KEY TO ACTIVATE THE GAME ON YOUR PROFILE" But why, if I already have a key, I can't activate the game on Steam?
[KG]Destaex Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 This is not possible, because Steam won´t allow 3rd party purchased keys. Same like DCS. Very diapointing though. It is possible as I have had many games that moved to steam give me keys before when the option was not listed originally but became possible later. Dawn of War is a good example but their were many others that allowed me to throw my boxed product (steam not required) key in. I pre-ordered but now wish I had just got it off steam. Steam is so much easier and is where all of my gaming friends are. Running the client through steam for most games tends to degrade performance and still requires me to manage two clients.
carts Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Well, after having had my fingers burnt on a couple of recent occasions,I had decided not to bother with pre-orders,or early access programmes, but have just recanted and ordered from Steam,I will be joining the good fight in the forums soon! 1
StickMan Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Bought it on Steam. Played for 6 hours and wrote a positive review. Devs don' let me down now. It's great so far, finish it proper and continue support after release. 1

Hoots Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Thank you. I hope to be staying here a long time. Is the 10 years of the original too much to hope for? Check out the history of rise of flight, must be near ten years with both free upgrades and (in my mind) fair priced DLC.
StickMan Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Check out the history of rise of flight, must be near ten years with both free upgrades and (in my mind) fair priced DLC.It's funny you mention Rise of Flight. I have the iron cross edition and I really like it. I'm just not into WW1 aircraft as much as I'm into the WW2 ones. The ironic thing is the first time I played RoF, I thought to myself, "Why can't someone have done this game with WW2 aircraft? The feel of this game is perfect to me." and now, here we are. 2
J2_Trupobaw Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 (edited) Wow, it reminds me of RoF debut on steam. Wonder if every game gets this treatment on release, or are 777 games special . You don't need to own ROF on Steam to participate in the discussion. Just have a Steam account. Jason But, you do need it on Steam to post guides, videos, reviews, inspiring screenshots etc - things that work best to ease new players into BoS, and that old players are best equipped to deliever. I remember having to work around this when making guide to Steam RoF DLCs without having it on Steam . (No, I don't think it means you should start sending free codes to all founders so they can give them to their younger brothers. But the obstacle is there). Also, could someone who has BoS on Steam (Requiem?) post Requiem's guides in guides section? It's pretty empty ATM. Edited August 19, 2014 by Trupobaw

He's going to send a gift code for me on Steam, so once I get that I can activate it and do the guide myself. 3

-NW-ChiefRedCloud Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 A question if I can. Will the Steam version of Battle of Stalingrad and the sight version be compatible or will this be like Steam version of Rise of Flight as far as compatibility goes? Simple question is all. Chief
Finkeren Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Things seem to be shaping up over there. This post is on top of the general forum: "Wasn't sure about this, but after playing it I am completely converted I've been playing combat flight sims everyday since 2004. Big fan of the IL2 series and I play combat flight sims everyday. I was a little worried that IL2 Battle of Stalingrad would be too simplistic for my tastes, I play ROF, CLOD and DCS, but after playing this for a few weeks online I am really enjoying it.The flight model and engine management in BOS is already on track to be as good as anything. DCS has more detailed modeling of all the systems but the feeling of flying in BOS is the best I have felt in any sim. The damage modeling is diffinately the best I've seen. I have hit an enemy plane in the wing and he seems ok at first but as soon as he pulls some G and loads the wing it bends and then breaks where it was damaged. Nice.BOS is still in development but in the last few weeks I have seen the devs respond to the concerns of the comumnity on the forums and patch the game a week later to addess the issue. The community had concerns about he armoured glass in the fw190 and posted about it with documentation, one week later it was patched and fixed. The comumty posted about the roll rates being a little too high. The devs fine tuned the roll rates and they are now spot on.This kind of feedback and atention to detail impresses me.Anyway if your worred about wheather BOS has high enough standards in terms of flight model, engine management and damage model. All I can say after actually playing it online,is that when it is finished it will be the new high water mark for online combat flight sims." 2
