Witch Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 I just purchased this from the main official webpage the other day. I did not know it was on Steam already for Early Access, otherwise I would have done that since that is pretty much my main hub for all gaming on this desktop. Is it possible to actually add this game to my Steam library under the same account without simply using the desktop shortcut? I tried using the product key that I activated to play and of course it was invalid on Steam. If not, that's fine. I'm happy to play either way. Just curious.
LastRightsXIII Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 (edited) Wow! On Steam already? Can't answer your question. But.... Welcome to BoS. S! Edited August 15, 2014 by LastRights13
=420=Vahakyla Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Yeah, the game is on Steam. I would have wanted to purchase it on Steam and I really want my game to Steam. I tried the key but it would not work. 1
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 (edited) Keys are not transferable to Steam at this time. You can (and have) purchased the stand alone product or you may purchase it on Steam. The dev's are working on it but it may not be possible. Steam does not appear to be very enthusiasitic about merging the two, either. There will be a definitive answer sometime after release. There are three or four Steam Key related threads. Probably time for a Mod to merge all of them into a single thread. Edited August 15, 2014 by A1FltTrn=HerrMurf
Ralith Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 (edited) I'm glad it's on steam, but it's really not okay that those of us who supported with an early pre-purchase are being punished by not getting to manage the game with our platform of choice. I'm probably not going to preorder 777 products in the future if this keeps up. Why bother when I'll be worse off than if I'd just waited for the steam release? No other game developers have these issues. Compare to Uber, for example, who got Planetary Annihilation available on Steam very early on and offered full support for registering previously purchased licenses on Steam from the moment the steam release was available. No601_Prangster Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 im happy u are on steam but i should be able to use steam without buying the game again, come guys sort it out. This is a Steam issue not the developer. DCS are having the same problem: 7 June 2014 Dear all, We learned from Valve/Steam that they will be unable to continue merging DCS keys purchased outside of the Steam Store. As such and as of today, please note that any keys purchased outside of the Steam Store can no longer be used to activate DCS products on Steam. We will be working with Steam to merge all keys purchased prior to today. We can make no promises as to when or if this will happen though… that is out of our hands. Please note though that keys purchased on the Steam store will work on DCS World downloaded from the DCS Store. From http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=125452
Jason_Williams Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Yes what Prangster posts is what I have also learned. Jason
=420=Vahakyla Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 (edited) So then, I recommend mass chargebacks through your credit card companies. Eagle Dynamics is a well established shady business with weird issues and habits that not all customers enjoy. Using them as an example will only serve to point out that this is solely on the Dev side and not on Steam. Like Ralith mentioned, next time I will know to not support to game so that I don't pay more and get less. Edited August 15, 2014 by [LAME]Vahakyla
No601_Prangster Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Oh come on, it is just the shady russian devs that have "issues with steam" when merging the games and no one else. THis is solely on 777 and no one else. Eagle Dynamics is a well established shady business with weird issues and habits that not all customers enjoy. Using them as an example will only serve to point out that this is solely on the Dev side and not on Steam. Yes it's those nasty Russians again. Of course this explains why Elder Scrolls Online can't give their existing customers Steam Key, they must be secret commies too! Try leaving your bigotry out out of the discussion Vahaklya.
