Let's talk about our favorite warplanes

Today's top 5, since it does seem to change from time to time.....

 

F6F Hellcat - My grandfather had an R/C scale model of the Hellcat, so I naturally fell in love with it from a young age. Not the best performer, but could get the job done and get back to the boat with regularity. 

 

Bf-109 G-14 - The best 109 for my money. I love all 109s, but the G-14 is the one I would chose to take into a fight if time machines were a thing.

 

B-25 Mitchell - IMO the most iconic bomber in the Pacific, another I would love to fly irl.

 

P-38G Lightning - I love the early lightnings, the shape of the intakes under the propellers does it for me. Just a beautiful airplane.

 

P-40F Warhawk - I don't dislike any P-40, but the merlin powered F is my personal favorite. I had the opportunity to see a P-40E and FM-2 Wildcat up close last year, and what really stuck me was how small they are. Especially sharing the tarmac with an Avenger and a Corsair, they seemed almost like toys in comparison.
