I just updated the game and am about to go in!

So, how do I select a mission to intercept a Zeppelin?

Is it only in the careers or can I do it from the quick start?

FWIW, I have a good career in the proper time with N62, so it is probably just a matter of time before I see a Zeppelin.

Thanks!

I have the same question as above. I'd like to create a quick mission to fight the Zepp, but I don't see it in the list? I also don't see any Zepp hunting missions for the Flying Circus Scenarios to select?

Or try this in the mean time: https://sites.google.com/view/il2-great-battles-emg/home

Struggling to find the Zeppelin in game at the moment. Is there a quick start, mission etc way with 6.107 vanilla to see this?

Bit of an oversight if not... 🫣

Yeah, I think that this is bad marketing. Making a huge fuss about the Zeppelin and then not having a QM where you can engage it right away, is not the best way to do things, IMO.

Guys, we are aware that some issues need to be addressed, and we are actively working on them. Part of why we wanted to release it this week was to coincide with the end of the war on the 11th.

I'm as lost as everyone else.  Maybe it would have been less confusing if the Devs posted a notice honoring the 11th that said the Zeps would be available soon; instead of making it look like we have blimps that it turns out we can't access or interact with?

That said, I'm optimistically looking forward to the day when all this gets straightened out.  Meanwhile, the mission SYN_Vander posted looks promising. S!

A noble aspiration, but not a great idea as it turns out.

My personal opinion is that it would have been better to either only put out a video or to market it as a preview or such. Right now, it feels too rushed.

I disagree. It was pretty clear from the start that the update was rushed out a bit to coincide with 11 November, but I am still glad that we have it and can play around with the Zeppelin, even if there are some rough edges. I'm really enjoying messing around with the zep in the editor and playing with all the mission possibilities that it affords us.  I'd much rather have the update with the issues now, than have to wait another month and get something more polished.

I'd like it better if they'd fix the issues its causing with online multiplayer missions.

There should be a hotfix released soon, guys, hopefully by the end of today. Hang in there. 🙂

Incase the devs aren't aware, the Zeppelin's gunners definitely need some work.  I played a co-op (but still in "dogfight" mode) multiplayer mission with several other people, and the gunners would very rarely fire at anyone, even if the plane was flying alongside the Zeppelin.  They would occasionally fire a few rounds at someone, but it was almost as if they weren't there at all.

Here's a clip of our mission:

Yes, it's a known issue, thanks.

I, for one, am glad they don't shoot back. It is really, really hard to bring one down. Having somebody shoot back is almost unfair! ;)

It took a large group of us to bring it down.

Aside from the various machine gun fire, there were 3 rocket launches at it.   The first, 6 out of 8 hit.  The second, 4 out of 8 hit.  Then I came in and hit it with all 8, and it set it on fire,  which quickly spread and brought the whole thing down.

Good Lord! That's a lot of rockets to bring down a Zeppelin! Were they regular rockets or HE, do you know?

The last I heard, our machineguns don't have incendiary bullets.  My rig is temporarily down so I have to ask: is that still the case?

Posted

As far as I know that is the case. I wonder if this will be fixed for the Korea engine. I still don't understand why this was never fixed in the GB engine, since they already support HE/AP mixes for cannons, and incendiary bullets can probably be modeled as HE rounds with low explosive. But perhaps things are more complicated than that.

Interestingly, incendiary bullets were only allowed to be used against zeppelins and balloons during WW I, where the pilots would need to carry written orders detailing this, so they would not be considered in violation of the Saint Petersburg Declaration.

Mine (the last set where all 8 hit) were all HE rockets; I'm not sure about the other two sets of rockets.
