jokash Posted November 10 Posted November 10 I'm playing "Havocs over Kuban" and 2nd mission is shipping attack. I haven't seen any of my bombs detonate (did they sink)? I have them on 1 second timer (250kg)...do they need to be on contact or do they have to land exactly on the ship (target ships are schnellbots and landing barges). Also it says i have 8 100kg FAB's but i wasn't able to throw them (nor could i open the bomb bay door to see if they are inside)?.
BaglanBoy Posted November 11 Posted November 11 It may be an altitude issue, if dropped too low they may not have time to arm , bomb bay doors should open with the default key = N

I even asked AI how do i bomb ships and he said low altitude with 1 second delay (he was pretty accurate with other things in game like the upper cowl flaps on the A20).

Try changing your key binding to bomb bay doors toggle. For allied bombers, use a 5 sec delay. Edited November 11 by Plurp

A 1 second delay is much too short. Never trust AI. RAF fighter-bombers historically used 3s fuses so I expect they used something similar for low-level Boston raids. Even with a 3s fuse, your bombs might fail if you go too low so a 5s fuse is better.
jokash Posted November 23 Author Posted November 23 YEEEE!!! Iv done it with 3 sec timer...though the doors still wont open normally,i have to open them through bombsight.
