chiliwili69 Posted November 6 Posted November 6 (edited) Marketing is the "science" to distort the reality without lieing, but frequently the red line is crossed. I was surprised with one of the marketing campaings of Pimax when they were comparing the Quest3 with the Crystal Light. Something I personally did on my own on June-2024, taking my own conclusions (keeping the Quest3!) and reporting them in this section. The funny thing is that they used the picture I took with my camera to compare them in IL-2, and they didn´t include any link to the original post to get the full story. The Pimax campaing is: https://pimax.com/pages/pimax-crystal-light-vs-meta-quest-3/ Firstly they are wrong with the Quest3 price, it is 499$ for the 512GB model. Here they talk about the image, and include that Heinkel picture I took to explain that compared to the Quest3, the PCL needs a huge amount of pixels to be better than Quest3, only slightly better: The link they didn´t include to that pictures is this: But the real funny thing is what they say in the right to my picture!!: "Even with a 4090, Quest3 encoding overhead steals precious GPU resources that Crystal Light dedicates entirely to rendering" LOL!! . They only need to add "to rendering a huge amount of pixels due to the fact that PCL has one of the worst render/panel ratios in the market" And later thet talk about the lenses: They are simply lieing. The Quest3 lenses offer a bright view of the scene, an extraordinary eye-box and no distortions. IMHO the best lenses I have tried from my 14 previous VR devices. In any case, I am a big fan of Pimax (to put PCVR at the center) and a big hater of Meta (for ignoring PCVR). But I had a big laugh with the above LOL!! Edited November 6 by chiliwili69 7
Dagwoodyt Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Unfortunately, the same ethic likely applies to Pimax' quality control and product availability representations.

They discontinued the 128 GB model after a year, and reduced the price of the 512 GB model to that of the 128 GB model. So Pimax failed to update their marketing materials. Even mentioning the prices is not very smart by them, since the price difference is not in their favor, so a smarter company would simply have left it out completely.
Charger_ Posted November 12 Posted November 12 Message them. I reckon if you play your cards right and make up something spectacularly beautiful they might ship you one of their new OLED Supers! Worth a crack 1

I’m going to ask them to revise the article and make sure proper credit is given to whoever took those photos or shared those figures. 2
Dagwoodyt Posted November 15 Posted November 15 Seems the Pimax sales people are upset about the Steam Frame and it's not even available for sale yet. I cannot even count the number of Wow's in this video🤣

Dagwoodyt Posted November 15 Posted November 15 (edited) MRTV has at least two videos disparaging the Steam Frame so Valve may be somehow seen as a threat. Edited November 15 by Dagwoodyt
