Blitzen Posted October 30 Posted October 30 When playing with" Mods" I tend to get several smoke and flame anomolies, but the worst is anytime a Pfalz D-III is in game play, itt ALWAYS appears to be complettely engulfed in flames.A formation of these 'flaming coffins" is quite a sight to see.It has been this way since the VR /Mods has been involved ; also heavy exhaust smoke from some WW1 planes as well, but this is absolutely the worst effect.Other than not playing with mods on does anyone else have any suggestions? Stonehouse Posted October 30 Posted October 30 You would need to post a list of enabled mods to help people help you.

Ghost666 Posted October 31 Posted October 31 Yes, that's what it sounds like. You may try deleting the update folder and start the launcher. IIRC this will check the files and replace any that may be corrupted. If the problem is still there delete and reinstall. Good luck

Ghost666 Posted October 31 Posted October 31 Yes the update folder. Located in the main game folder. As you can see in the image above, uninstall program (unins000.exe) is located here too.

That appeared to work! Many thanks - this has been a problem for a very long time and here the solution was pretty simple all along! Now to start adding Mods carefully...Many thanks! If you are using JSGME (hopefully you are because manually installing mods will easily get you back into the same trouble you just fixed) make sure you never interrupt it (eg force it closed) while it is enabling or disabling mods. This can cause pieces of mods to be left installed.
Mtnbiker1998 Posted November 10 Posted November 10 This is a great example of why I avoid any kinds of effects mods that change particles or flames/smoke type things. Super easy to make an effect that looks great in one specific scenario, and absolutely ruin the experience in another. The IL-2 devs are far from perfect but they at least have dialed in the effects pretty well to look good enough in all cases. You'd be surprised what sprites and textures end up reused in a lot of different places!
Blitzen Posted November 10 Author Posted November 10 Never did really solve this even after a completely new install, sadly. If Mods were on, the flames returned as well wilding increased exhaust in many of the WW1 planes. So I suppose I’ll have to fly Flying Circus missions with Mods off.Easy to do.
