Cardolan Posted October 29 Posted October 29 So, I am playing in the P-38 and would like to accelerate at maximum with this plane. In its data, it says it has WEP. So I tried to find the WEP on the engine keys but was unable to find any key definition for WEP. Is it the "Engine # Boost Switch" entry? If not, what is it? Thank you!
MaxPower Posted October 30 Posted October 30 If you're using simple engine management and tech talk, just advance the throttle to 100 percent and note tech talk says 'emergency power' with a red icon. With complex engine management, emergency power is a combination of manifold pressure and engine rpm. Set the engine to the correct rpm, then advance the throttle until manifold pressure reads correct. There might be a slight delay while the turbos get up to speed. Specs for emergency power manifold pressure and rpm can be found a few places including the specifications tab in the map screen and the il2 website.
MaxPower Posted October 30 Posted October 30 (edited) I found some info for you on the il2 website. I included the turbo speeds but they aren't important because I don't think you can control them directly. Engine modes: Cruise (unlimited time): 2600 RPM, 44 inch Hg Combat power (up to 15 minutes): 3000 RPM, 54 inch Hg WEP (up to 5 minutes): 3000 RPM, 60 inch Hg Maximum continuous turbocharger RPM: 24000 Maximum turbocharger RPM for up to 15 minutes: 26400 https://il2sturmovik.com/museum/fighters/p-38j-25/ Edited October 30 by MaxPower
Cardolan Posted October 30 Author Posted October 30 Thank you very much for the detailed help! Issue solved as I am a lazy pilot enjoying simple engine management.
