T16000M trigger not working (not microswitch)

Hi all, my T16k trigger just stopped working and I'm at a bit of a loss as to why. I was in game about to pounce on a 109 when my phone slipped and fell onto my keyboard's space bar, causing the guns to fire. It took me a few seconds to work out what was going on as I was in VR, and when I removed my phone found that the trigger on the stick had stopped working. This might have been unrelated but I'm including this just in case. I wondered if the game might have defaulted to using space to fire and for some reason might have removed the binding but no, binding to another stick button works fine. I went through thrustmaster's calibration/test program and there's no input showing, so I tried reinstalling and updating drivers etc but still no dice. I've switched USB ports to no avail, and have just replaced the microswitch (though the old one was testing fine with a multimeter). so I ask you all, and your collective wisdom, what gives? has anyone had a similar experience, and if so, what was your fix? is there something I haven't tried yet?

On a related but otherwise irrelevant note, I found an easy cure to the z-axis jitters, it turns out the pot only uses a small portion of it's total movement, if you take it out and wipe it back and forth a few times it moves all the crud on the resistive strip to the ends, completely curing the issue for me. Now it's just the trigger gremlins to deal with.

Hm. A trigger is a switch. You tested by a multimeter.

Thrustmaster tool shows no input.

MicroSwitch okay. Connection from switch to USB broken ? Cable ?

The game does not play a role here, obviously.
