This Zepplin was the creation of an ROF community member back in the day, 'Genius' was his forum name. So these pics are from a mission in ROF which I recorded, back in the day. More to come, and do not fret Flashy for I have plenty of material left to carry us into the day that 1C unleashes their mighty gas bag colossus unto us mate.

The Zeppelin looks good, a spectacular fire when shot down. But unfortunately it is completely unsuitable as an offensive weapon. He doesn't carry bombs and he doesn't respond to attack commands. He only defends himself moderately with his machine guns...

It does respond to attackarea commands, although its slow and takes a while to position itself and finally make an attack run. Also, it has a pretty small bomb load, so it cant really do much damage. The "limit ammo"checkbox doesnt seem to do anything either (hopefully to be fixed soon?), so you cant even make it bomb areas repeatedly.. sad.  So not totally useless at the moment, but hopefully a future patch will make it more worthwhile as an offensive weapon.

The Zeppelin is what it was, a long range recon platform and terror weapon, not a strategic bomber.

 

I guess some people expected some sort of proto-B52?  Even proper fixed wing bombers from the Great War would have some difficulty executing a multiple target strategic mission.

There is no way to set payloads and it didn't respond to the AttackArea command:

Havent checked the latest patch, but the payload dropdown was broken in the last update, as you see in your pic - no options to choose from. The Zeppelin still has its default payload though, which is something like 5 or 7 big bombs. The Limit Ammo checkbox also doesnt work (so it wont replenish its ammo if you uncheck that), but it can drop its +-5 bombs on an area, just check you dont have "attack ground objects" set because that also doesnt work (or at least it didnt last time I tried) . It only works for "attack ground".

Without the Zeppelin attacking, it is completely pointless. He is again an easy victim for Allied pilots ...

thats very strange. Do you mean it doesnt bomb, or the machine gunners arent attacking? The gunners are still pretty useless even after the last update, but it should bomb.  Post your mission here and we can take a look
