Ju-87 stuck at low altitudes even if waypoints set high

Hello I started a Ju-87 career on Stalingrad as I love dive bombing. I noticed that some of the missions will have the waypoints set for 4000 meters for some of my waypoints flight and attack runs. But issue is the Ai Ju-87 flight lead I’m following will not go over 600ish meters entire flight from take off, attack and landing eve though on the map and waypoint marker are set way higher . I tried to manually change altitude and still nothing.  Is this a IL2 Ai issue? Or am I doing something wrong? Do I have to lead the flight instead?

That sounds like an AI issue, not PWCB, but I could be wrong.  Regardless, the AI is shoddy enough that you're almost always going to have a better flight as lead instead of wingman.  Many keystrokes have been spent lamenting the bizarre and random behavior of the AI.  

 

One thing I would check, however, is that the mission profile is, "dive bomb".  If the profile is, "attack" the AI might be insisting on staying low for a shallow diving attack.
