In the original IL-2 Sturmovik flight sim the Yak-3 was one of my favourite fighters. I am very glad the IC Team have now included it in their stable of WWII aircraft.

In this mission you are supporting your ground forces, though the role in which the Yak-3 really excelled was low-altitude interception for which its fast climb, high speed and superlative maneuverability were ideally suited – many an Fw190A and Bf109G stalled and crashed when their pilots endeavored to follow the Yak-3 in a tight turn!

Place your Yak-3 on autopilot and wait for the start-up, then let the aircraft taxi into position for take-off – this will better synchronize the mission. A tank battle has developed just west of Novosokol’Niki, so watch out for attacking German aircraft. You have top cover support from La5’s. Skins - fw190a8_4k_Kg_51_amarillo_1
