giftgruen Posted October 13 Posted October 13 (edited) After flying BOS and FC now for some time with an officechair setup I switched to a 'seated' SimRig. This also meant, going from VKB Gladiator EVO KG12 plus WW2-Throttle to a VKB Gunfighter KG12 with 200mm extension ( + Virpil Throttle ). Just wanted to give my experiences after some 2..3 weeks now, maybe some of you think about such a change also. Context: I am flying in VR, SinglePlayer only (so far). Verdict: 1. 200mm extension completely changes the game. It is a surprisingly big change, planes feel so much different. After getting somewhat used to it, I am a surprisingly good gunner and 'ride-the-stall' hero in comparison to before 🙂 2. 200mm extension means that you need a second stick if you are also playing Elite or something like this This extension really only adapts 'good' to vintage flying ( maybe Helicopters also, dont know ) 3. However - regarding quality, usability, feeling, the much cheaper VKB Gunfighter EVO is a really great stick. Gunfighter4 imho is not 3 times as good ( but approx. 3 times as expensive ) If you dont need an extension, I cannot see the huge value for GF4 here. However, if you want to fly extensions, the Gladiator cannot handle this, so you need a Gunfighter ( or maybe a Virpil base ) 4. VKB WW2 throttle in terms of button / controls quality imho is clearly better than the more expensive Virpil Unfortunately, the VKB feels somewhat more like a toy ( plastic ) whereas the Virpil Throttle is bigger, heavyer, more 'adult'. This is a mixed bag. I will stay with the Virpil, probably, but wished to have a mix of Virpil feeling with VKB exactness. 5. I pulled the trigger on a quite affordable "Dardoo/Minneer" Seat. Quite flexible and not soo expensive. Sitting in a rig instead of an office chair makes quite a difference. However, it takes a lot of space. Makes sense if you have a gaming room. In summary I put some Euros in the new setup and for me it is okay. I like this game ( well, besides tha crappy FC AI ) and it's a good afterwork "stressdowner" where some EURos are okay for me to spend. If you are an enthusiast and can afford it, go for it! However, as always: The game stays the same. You can also have a lot of fun without much equipment. PS: Sorry, for bugs in 'english'. Not my mother language and I write without translation tools or AI Edited October 13 by giftgruen 2 1
