I am running with a 5090 graphics cart and a amd Ryzen 7 9800 cpu and I cant start IL2 . I have steam VR as the runtime. Starting through Pimax play with game settings enabled in the pimax device settings for IL2.

Settings in IL2 are on balanced. At the interface where you hit "enter" my cursor acts like I'm getting 10 FPS, it a complete slide show.

Do I need all the IL2 settings on low to get things going?

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Do you have SteamVR installed?  Have you had IL-2 running on another headset previously on the same machine in VR?  Make sure quadviews are disabled in the PimaxPlay IL-2 profile, it's not compatible or supported by the game.

You can enable the Pimax OpenXR on the general tab of device settings PimaxPlay, but be aware IL-2 needs the openvr_api.dll swap out to work, it's not a native OpenXR game.  You can get it here.

Link under the 'Per-game installation' section, follow the instruction.  If it still don't work you can find older openvr_api.dll's that will work.  You don't need steam or steam VR on your system to run Pimax OpenXR.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes I had  Steam VR installed so I uninstalled it and  dropped the openvr api you suggested still no difference with the loading screen.

Pimax Open XR is enabled

No I have not had a previous headset this is my first.

I don't have quadviews enable (never did with IL2)

I tried using the openvr api you suggested and it didn't crash the game but I still have the same problem. That is the game starts and gets to the screen where I am supposed to select "enter" but I can't move the cursor freely. It jerks around like I am getting 10 fps. You know, its like a slide show. So I cant get int the "enter" box.

The problem is not that the game won't run its a problem with the mouse cursor being erratic.

Got it sorted out, I turned off the mirrors and adjusted the resolution in game to my monitors native res (2560x1440) and vola, it did it. So thanks for the tip about using Pimax OpenXR and swapping out the openvr_api.dll file. Didn't like the idea of using steam VR.
