jldjs1 Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago The P51 manual says to set yaw trim on takeoff to plus 5. My key mapping for this uses CtrlX an CtrlZ. My key mapping for yaw uses Z for increasing value and X for decreasing. When I select key mapping for Ctrl Z for turning left, at takeoff the P51 starts to veer right! What am doing wrong here?
jollyjack Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Hi. Just tried the p51. Ctrl Z and X are programmed alright in the keymapping, and you see the trim wheel left from the pilot seat being active. However the plane does not react, and rudder does not move. Might be a bug? I have my rudder trim set up on my thustmaster viper stick, LWD and RWD, and trim works fine however, so i never bothered.
jldjs1 Posted 3 hours ago Author Posted 3 hours ago Thanks for replying. The issue is that the yaw trim dial goes negative when I apply trim to make the rudder move the plane to the left. As I read the P51 manual and as the Sheriff’s video show, positive 5 degree rudder trim should be used on the P51 for that! If I apply 5 degree positive (on the trim dial)rudder trim the P51 veers right on take off!

You either have something mixed up with your controls or don't understand how the rudder trim commands work. Ctrl Z by default trims the rudder to the left and Ctrl X to the right. It will track down the runway correctly every time if you have your controls set up correctly like that.
