I am running with a 5090 graphics cart and a amd Ryzen 7 9800 cpu and I cant start IL2 . I have steam VR as the runtime. Starting through Pimax play with game settings enabled in the pimax device settings for IL2.

Settings in IL2 are on balanced. At the interface where you hit "enter" my cursor acts like I'm getting 10 FPS, it a complete slide show.

Do I need all the IL2 settings on low to get things going?

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

I have OG Crystal and 4090; it works great, and I must admit IL-2 is one of better optimised simulations.

If I put my hmd in 72Hz mode, I can have about 4300*5100 pixels per eye. Msaa disabled in IL-2 (slider on zero). I do use open composite and pimax openxr, but steam is similar.

Yours gpu 5090 is raw about 30% better then 4090, according to my calculations you can get ca 4900*5800 per eye at 72Hz, or maybe less. (yes, 30% more pixels is so small increase in horizontal and vertical resolution)

However you can try some vr helpers, i.E. pimax FSR/NIS, or lower resolution with pimax sharpening. With Mbucchias Openxr toolkit you can reduce fov if you do not see edges (top and down only), that can help.

But for test put some low resolution (3500*4000, or less) to check if everything works good on your system, and then try to set it better.

PS; I actually use 90Hz at 3689*4280 per eye, open composite, fov top reduced to 80%, strong CAS sharpening.

PS2: remember that quadviews do not work at all in IL-2, and foveated rendering brakes game randomly - no use of it.
