PretzelDarter Posted October 4 Posted October 4 (edited) It's likely far too late for such a thing to be added now, but personally it's a tiny bit of a shame that the in-game Hornisse (and many other planes for that matter!) didn't get flame dampeners / hiders / whatever else people call them, as a modification. I've become a big fan of the 410 ever since BoN came out, and fly it out very often both with friends and in career mode. Intruder and night bomber missions with KG 51 in particular are a favorite, even if there's no heavies around to spook 😋 The lack of them isn't a deal breaker at all, just something that would've been a nice touch, had it been released with them. I understand why they may not have been able to do so though, in the 410's case in particular they seemed to have been somewhat-improvised field modifications for some aircraft within units that operated them by night, and seemingly they were not always fitted. I'm at least glad that the Mozzie came with them. One thing that I do have some hope for however, is the possibility of increased emergency time for it's DB 603s, discussed in a different thread here. A few photos of these dampeners on 410s are featured here, aside from being a good read: https://falkeeins.blogspot.com/2024/02/messerschmitt-me-410-long-range.html Spoiler I also have a clip from elsewhere about one being loaded up with SC 500 (which has a couple peeks at the dampeners in the dark), but I'm not sure how I should go about sharing that here 😅 Just a couple of thoughts of a missed feature. The team has much more important things to worry about now, so no need to backtrack over such a minor detail. I'm grateful that they did so much for bringing this plane into the sim in the first place, with so many features and configurations. Edited October 5 by PretzelDarter 2

Intruder and night bomber missions with KG 51 in particular are a favorite, even if there's no heavies around to spook 😋 As you probably already know from your research, the Me 410 was produced for 2 specific tasks to replace the Me 110. It was originally intended as both a heavy bomber destroyer and a tactical bomber. The Allies were sending massive bomber raids into Germany so most of the focus at the time was on using everything they had to intercept the Allied air armadas. At the same time, the Luftwaffe was ordered to stage attacks against England "with all available aircraft". There were not enough Ju 88s or other German bombers to do this, so the Me 410 was pressed into service even though it was a light to medium tactical bomber only carrying 1 or 2 bombs each. The effect they had on England was considered only a nuisance, and certainly depleted the number of pilots and crew by more than it was worth. I don't have the numbers on hand of how many of the Me 410s were produced as bombers, but after the Invasion of Normandy there was a mix of bomber and destroyer models being sent to the front line, frequently with mixed models in the same unit. I also believe that only the bomber models would have had the exhaust baffles fitted for use as intruders. Most of the ones that survived to the end of the invasion were the destroyer models and then their pilots were sent back to Germany and converted to the Me 262s. The mosquito was certainly the worst enemy of the Me 410 and accounted for a lot of the nighttime losses along with accidents. Also you may want to either put a spoiler over that top image above or blur out the tail pretty soon.

Whoops, thanks for the reminder, haven't seriously interacted with this forum in a while and forgot about that rule 😅 2 hours ago, Jaegermeister said: As you probably already know... I know you mean well, but I don't need a dumbed down version of events I've already read well into 🙂
