1CGS LukeFF Posted October 3 1CGS Posted October 3 Hey everyone! Today's post is all about the bombs and rockets coming to Korea. IL2 Series. Enjoy! https://il2-korea.com/news/dd_49 10
migmadmarine Posted October 3 Posted October 3 What are the yellow, crinkly looking drop tanks? napalm cannisters?

deathmisser Posted October 3 Posted October 3 There's 3 months left for 2025, you sure the delivery will be on time ?
Art-J Posted October 4 Posted October 4 As per recent Q&A session on Reddit, they aim at "winter" release of Beta version so it may or may not be 2025. Fleshing it out will go well into '26 anyway so I don't think there's particular need to hurry.
ST_Catchov Posted October 4 Posted October 4 No way 2025. If they did then Albert is surely some kind of magician or warlock with special powers that normal humans and flight simmers can only dream about. 1

Avimimus Posted October 4 Posted October 4 Speaking dirty (mud-moving) to me...?! Well, that is definitely my language! It is hilarious that we're actually getting the DAG! This is going to be the most complete sim ever! P.S. For those who don't know 'cumulative' in this case means high explosive anti-tank. 48 minutes ago, ST_Catchov said: No way 2025. MajorMagee Posted October 4 Posted October 4 I don't see the M47A1 bomb that was used in Korea for WP.

MajorMagee Posted October 4 Posted October 4 (edited) As far as I know they were used both ways in Korea. Both the Corsairs and Skyraiders would carry a mixed load of WP and Napalm. Edited October 4 by MajorMagee
Avimimus Posted October 4 Posted October 4 If you can remember your sources for that information, it might be helpful. I tried a couple of searches and didn't turn up anything.
Avimimus Posted October 5 Posted October 5 I wonder is any other aircraft than the F-80 will be able to carry bombs on the HVAR racks? I believe the F9F could and the F7F, but I'm not sure if any of the other announced aircraft could...? I also wonder if the jets will be able to carry the cluster bombs, or if they'll be limited to the F-51? Looking at the options as described, there should be a diversity of experiences provided: F-51 2x1000lb bomb (option for cluster bombs) Up to 10xHVAR (only 6xHVAR if carrying bombs) F-86A-5 (late) 2x1000lb bombs 16xHVAR rockets F-80C-10 2x1000lb bombs or up to 8 smaller bombs (two on wingtips, four on HVAR rails) 8xHVAR rockets F84E 2x1000lb bombs Up to 32xHVAR or 2xTiny Tim rockets Good gun platform Il-10 2x500lb bombs 182x4.4lb bombs 4xRS-132 rockets Mig-15 2x250lb bombs 37mm cannon We'll also see the addition of incendiary bombs in addition to cluster bombs! P.S. The lack of mention of the F-4U makes me wonder if it and the F9F are now slated for a DLC!
Mysticpuma Posted October 5 Posted October 5 Will we see an update on the improved fire, flame, smoke, debris and explosion effects...... now we see the new weaponry? 1

I'm honestly more interested in having an improved fragmentation model etc. But, I'm often wrong when it comes to improving graphics. I could also definitely see the value of upgrading the appearance of tracers. 2 hours ago, migmadmarine said: Huh, the DAG-10 sounds wild. I remember when people used to fly the TB-3 in Il-2 Forgotten Battles and use time delayed bombs for self-defense. 😄 The DAG-10 should be entertaining. I'm curious if they'll work against ground targets. 1
Mysticpuma Posted October 5 Posted October 5 Just now, Avimimus said: I'm honestly more interested in having an improved fragmentation model etc. But, I'm often wrong when it comes to improving graphics. I could also definitely see the value of upgrading the appearance of tracers. My main gripe is the over the top cartoon fire and ultra black smoke effects when an aircraft catches fire. I went through an extensive discussion in the following thread (with examples) of why the current effects are so over the top, and luckily Stonehouse modded the current effects so they look much more realistic. The replies on Jan 25th, 27th and Feb 14th summarise the reasons and outcome of the changes, and the final effect is the complete opposite of the catoon/arcade original effects. So, I hope the team will update the effects to be much more realistic, seeing all the work they are putting in for all the other features.
Avimimus Posted October 5 Posted October 5 I actually liked the old smoke myself. Also the blue winter lighting was quite good at simulating very cold days (unfortunately lost with the lighting update in Great Battles). Hopefully the new lighting model will be advanced enough to give both warmer and colder winter days. IMHO, these things may not always be more or less realistic - rather the appearance may be very dependent on things like the type of fire, airspeed/altitude etc.

Currently, every fire creates the intense opaque thick black smoke and huge flame effect. Hence, I hope they revisit the effects and bring them back more to reality. 1
