Has anyone been able to create a real pea soup fog on any map and if so, what are the atmospheric settings ?  Please include all that applies, i.e. temp, pressure, type of cloud and haze settings.  Thanks in advance.

You can set one of the heavy or overcast cloud types in the mission editor, and then adjust the bottom altitude.  However, the bases generally won't go much below 5-700m so you need to use a part of a map where you have some elevation to work with to get the desired effect. The example posted below used Heavy_07 with the bottom altitude set to 200m (bases are still more around 500-700m), giving some broken fog with another cloud layer above.  It's possible to get under in certain spots, but covers many of the little hills in the Ardennes area where the shots were taken.

Here's one I just made using Overcast_03 with the bases set to 0m (still around 600m really), with the shot taken at Breitscheid airfield on the Rhineland map.

I have a campaign on the Kuban map and the elevation of the ground is 60-70 meters and there is no way to get the fog at ground level.

In oldest versions of the cloud system you could have fog on the ground.

While they improved the cloud system a lot, with multiple layers, and variations and holes in the cloud coverage, lighting etc. the price to pay was that you could not create properly good ground fog. Probably this would have needed additional work and they prioritized flying above than ground effects.

I had to review some of my missions that used it.  No chance that this will be improved in the future. Maybe in Korea but surely not in IL2 GB.
