GenMarkof007 Posted September 2 Author Posted September 2 (edited) The short storyline of the Battle for Gyrla! ---- Take 2 - AAS-SCG Tank Crew PvP Event on the NEW Odessa Map! Fictional Battle for Gyrla, Finnish-Russian War - Summer '41 (WWII) ---- In the summer of 1941, amidst the forests and rivers in eastern Finland, the small village of Gyrla became the focal point of a fierce armoured confrontation. The Finnish 303rd Panzer Division, a highly mobile unit recently equipped with captured and German-supplied Pz II and Stug III tanks, was tasked with holding the eastern flank of the Karelian region. Despite being outnumbered, their knowledge of the rugged terrain and defensive ingenuity made them a formidable force. On July 20th, 1941, the 20th Russian Armoured Brigade launched a determined assault from the east, spearheaded by T-34 and KV-1 tanks, supported by motorized infantry and artillery. Their goal: to punch through the Finnish lines and seize Gyrla, a key logistical point on the road to Lake Ladoga. The Finnish defenders, entrenched in the pine-covered ridges and camouflaged in hidden bunkers, used ambush tactics to devastating effect. Under the command of Colonel Antti Vanhala, the 303rd coordinated a counter-attack with Panzer III tanks and repurposed Soviet armour, striking the Russian flanks as they attempted to push into the village. Good Luck to all pilots and tankers! ---- Mission conditions: We ask that all players switch teams from the team they were in at the last event. For new players, we will try to equalize teams in numbers, so that the battle is more fun! Please spread the word if you see one of the tankers on your side not respecting this rule! ---- Cheers, GenMarkof007 ---- Edited Saturday at 04:08 PM by GenMarkof007

GenMarkof007 Posted September 15 Author Posted September 15 (edited) S! All IL-2 Tankers and pilots, the next AAS-SCG PvP TC Event will occur: Sunday, September 21st, at 1:00 p.m. (EST)- NA. --- A few questions and answers to help you with your first time in the PvP TC Event --- Q1: At what time should I get on AAS Chat Discord? A: Each team (player) should be online on the AAS Team Chat Discord at least 15-20 minutes before the start of the event so that you can organize and talk strategy. We might wait a few minutes so that we have enough tankers to start the mission. Thanks for your understanding. Q2: What must I do when I spawn inside the mission? A: When you enter the mission, please zoom the map area so that you can see the Tank spawns (or Airfield) and select the one you want to spawn in. Be careful, if you spawn on the wrong side, a penalty of 120 minutes (2 hours) will be incurred to respawn on your own side. Q3: When I spawn, where do I go for the Battle (after the mission start signal)? A: When you spawn, you will see base signs. Just follow the arrows. If you see signs (Do not pass = noway), that means this is not the way to the Battle. Q4: How do I repair, refuel or rearm (RRR)? A: For tankers, locate the blue smoke for Axis forces or the red smoke for Allied forces at each tank spawn point, and then stop your engine near that area. The airfields use yellow smoke for RRR. Please keep in mind that it is not possible to re-arm (add parachute troops), so complete your flight and then take a new parachute drop plane. Your plane will reappear on the list of available planes. Q5: Why do I need to stay in the Black Zone Area? A: Since the main task for the Axis is to defend the flag and for the Allies to take it, this will give you enough space for the main battles. Be careful, even in the black area, you may have AI AT guns in each zone near enemy spawns. If you stay inside the town area, you won't be shot by AT guns, just by enemy tanks! ---- Q6: Why is the flag not moving when I am beside it? A: If the flag is not moving, a good chance an enemy tank is near the radius of the flag. You need to eliminate it before the flag can move. Q7: Why is the flag moving very slowly? (not like on other MP servers) A: The overall time that the flag needs to be taken by the Allies is around 15-17 minutes, so that the Axis may counter that attack and retake the flag. Q8: Why do I need to download the skin packs on HSD? A: These skin packs (AAS) and (SCG) are made to have a more immersive time when tanking or flying in multiplayer missions or PvP TC events. Also, most tank skins are made by the IL-2 Tank Crew community. Q9: Why am I always getting disconnected from the server? A: If your PING (Internet connection) is too high, you might get disconnected. We are trying our best to have a tick delay lower than 7, which helps the CPU on the server! Q10: Why are we using this tank set? A: For each (PvP Event), we are trying to find the tanks that will fit the best with the scenario. As you know, the numbers and types of tanks are very limited in the IL-2 Tank Crew module. Q11: Why fictional battles? A: We are always looking for interesting new missions for our TC PvP Event. Many times, we have to design a fictional battle since we lack missions, maps, tanks, planes, and much more! ---- Q12: The parachute drop planes on each side do not carry the same number of parachutes.? A: However, we calculated the percentages based on the number of parachutes in each plane, ensuring that both sides achieve the same number of drops to reach 100%. Fighters should try to escort and protect the Parachute Drop planes. Each side only has 12 Para Drop planes. Q13: Why didn't my last para drop change the percentage for my team? A: Be very careful; the area for the para drop is quite challenging. If you drop your parachute team over water or forested regions, they may not survive, and you won't receive any percentage for that drop. All of your para needs to land safely to update your score (%). Q14: The Russian Airfield runway seems a bit short for the C-47A? A: To assist with the C-47A's takeoff, we have removed some plane bunkers to extend the runway length. We conducted several tests, and the C-47 can take off using three-quarters of the runway. Make sure to familiarize yourself with all the planes that are available for your team. Q15: Why are some of the mods locked for tanks and planes? A: Since this is primarily a Tank Crew mission, we have decided to restrict the use of the big bombs for planes. Additionally, we have limited certain modifications, such as smoke mortars for German tanks. If you do not need a mod (available), you can uncheck it. Q16: If I'm not able to play the complete 3 hours? A: No worries, just let your commander know. That way, he might use another strategy when you leave. We kindly request that most players stay the full 3 hours so that you can support your team until the end. Q17: Can we give some comments after the event? A: Absolutely, we will conduct a post-mortem meeting with all participants in the Bar-English channel on AAS Discord. Everyone is welcome to join us. Please be mindful when sharing your thoughts, whether they are positive or negative, as this will be very helpful! ---- Cheers, GenMarkof007 ---- Edited September 19 by GenMarkof007

Do not drop Para over the forest, they might die! 7- If the Axis defend the flag (Village of Gyrla) for 3 hours, they will win the Battle of Gyrla! ---- **Important Tips Before the Event:** Here are some helpful reminders to prepare you for the day of the event: - Please download the skin packs for AAS (Advance & Secure) and SCG (SCG Tank Regiment) from HSD. This will ensure you have the latest skins for both the Allied and Axis factions, including the new Finnish skins for the Axis planes. - Make sure to join the AAS Discord at least 15-20 minutes before the event. This will allow you to connect with your team, discuss the overall strategy, and obtain the password for the event. - The weather will only be confirmed on the day of the event. The latest front report indicates it should be very cloudy, with a possibility of rain. - The mission will last for 3 hours, with an additional 10 minutes of waiting time before the start signal. - No intelligence (recon photos) will be available to commanders due to unfavourable weather conditions. - Please wait for the official start signal and message before departing from the tank bases or airfields. - Tankers must remain within the Black Zone during Tank Battles. If you notice a tanker on your side not adhering to this rule, please help spread the word. - The pontoon bridge near the Village of Gyrla is off-limits for attacks. - Multicrewing is allowed; please ask for permission before entering any tank on your side as a crew member. - For this event, we request that grass is set to ON, ensuring all tankers have an equal playing field. - You will only see your own parachute drop zone on the in-game map, as this has been modified from the last event. - Stay tuned for any other late info from the Battle Zone... ---- For more info, tips, tanks and plane skins, please read above. And good luck! Cheers, GenMarkof007 Edited September 16 by GenMarkof007
GenMarkof007 Posted September 17 Author Posted September 17 ----- Important tips for Pilots (Allies and Axis) - for Sunday, Sept 21st Event ----- 1. At each airfield, you will find the following: landing fires, landing markers, a runway indicator line, an airfield tower with a windsock, and many other items. When taking off, try to take a picture in your head of the surroundings, as this will help you return to it. 2. Please taxi to the landing fires (runway) before taking off. 3. When landing, select the side with the landing fires and markers. There will be two sections marked with yellow smoke where you can refuel, re-arm, and repair your aircraft. 4. We strongly recommend avoiding the enemy airfield, as anti-aircraft artillery (AAA) is very dangerous, and you may lose a plane unnecessarily. Instead, focus on assisting with the parachute drop and supporting ground troops (tanks). 5. Regarding the flak sectors on each side, we recommend staying away from them, as they are known to target and destroy enemy planes. 6. Given that the cloud level might be quite low for the event (latest weather report), exercise caution during parachute drops. Each drop zone is very hilly and surrounded by forests. Remember, if a paratrooper lands in the forest, they may not survive, and the drop will not count. 7. Ground troops (special units) are already deployed near the drop zone. They will assist you in determining where to drop your troops. A message will confirm when you get 100% of the drop done! 8. To return to base (airfield), look for city fires to help guide you home (always near the Airfield). ---- For more info, tips, tanks and plane skins, please read above. And good luck! Cheers, GenMarkof007
