1CGS LukeFF Posted August 29 1CGS Posted August 29 Hey everyone! Today, we want to show you what the damage model will look like, in 4K detail: https://il2-korea.com/news/dd_45 6 1
LF_Mark_Krieger Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Is the sound definitive? In my ignorance, the "flute" sound of the P-51 sounds a bit exagerated during some moments, but of course I have no idea about it.
Trooper117 Posted August 29 Posted August 29 That was just the pilot squealing! But that screech, whistle, whatever you like to call it sounded right out of context to the crash... 1 1
86Cheese Posted August 29 Posted August 29 (edited) This is pretty much what they sound like. That sound is airflow over the gunports whistling. It usually just sounds quieter because of the engine, but it is pretty loud. https://youtube.com/shorts/pqTjZVyDXeQ Edited August 29 by 86Cheese 1
LuftManu Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Awesome! So we are getting too the lightweight version of the Mustang! shame it can only fly a few yards tho 😄 1

Rjel Posted August 30 Posted August 30 It was nice to see the Mustang didn't immediately shed its flaps when it contracted the ground. One effect I hope to see in the new sim would be when an airplane hits the ground at a shallow angle and at high speed, that there was a chance of the plane exploding on contact.
Mysticpuma Posted August 30 Posted August 30 I look forward to the update where the old legacy fire and explosion effects are redone/remastered. It's so distracting to see all the attention to detail and those old fire effects spoiling it. Damage model looks very impressive. 1

Something isn't right there or maybe the screech, whistle is just to pronounced over what should be the most prominent grinding and scraping sounds. Looks amazing and sounds ok, but I will hope the audio engineer has another listen and adjusts the balance of what is heard. S!Blade<><
Avimimus Posted August 30 Posted August 30 How many of us have witnessed an aircraft in such a situation? What basis do we have to judge? 1

[CPT]Crunch Posted August 30 Posted August 30 I look forward to showering the runways in sparks at night.
=MERCS=JenkemJunkie Posted August 30 Posted August 30 If that audio was taken from an external view, how would it sound inside the cockpit?

I know what they sound like... I've watched them whistle overhead many times. That noise was just wrong... plus, the whistling sound would come to an abrupt end when it slammed into the ground. 1
BlitzPig_EL Posted August 31 Posted August 31 Just totally disable the whistle during a crash sequence. Simple.
ST_Catchov Posted August 31 Posted August 31 I think it's the 'you are in serious and immediate danger and possibly about to crash' warning sound kinda like the stall sound in modern aircraft. The P51 was an advanced design for its day with many safety features.

BladeMeister Posted September 2 Posted September 2 10 hours ago, Vishnu said: Blow across the opening of a bottle. Same thing. Then why didn't all planes with flush mount wing mounted guns do that? Something to do with the Laminar wing profile and the gun ports. S!Blade<><

86Cheese Posted September 2 Posted September 2 I can't believe how fixated everyone is on the whistling. Obviously this is all WIP. What is with you people, can you not just appreciate that we are getting a better damage model instead of throwing a fit about something you'll never hear inside the cockpit anyway? 1 1

No one has thrown a fit except you and that little rant. People are entitled to their opinion from observations made from watching that video. From critique comes excellence, if the Devs care what their customers think about their product. I never said my view or opinion is what anyone else should think. It just needs work IMHO. Relax, don't worry, be happy. S!Blade<>< 1
