xpeace Posted August 27 Posted August 27 Dear community, dear developers, I`m writing a book on the Ju87 siren, and found the cockpit depiction of the Ju87 quite accurate. I have never seen high resolution imagery tho, where any of the labels from the "Freiluftschraube" could be read. Is the label "Über 390 km/h nicht verschieben" accurate? According to an article in "Luftfahrt International 25" 320 km/h is the maximum value to shift the switch. I also read reports that showed when the device was activated at too much speed the missing rotational force of the propeller would break the siren and the whole thing would tear off with a loud screech impacting to the ground like a bomb. I`d be really interested in the source photo used to model the siren switch (I can send you an original hard copy of the Luftfahrt International book for that favor which explains in detail how the device worked with several graphics included). I also got a hi-res Junkers factory photo with the parts following such as the dive break section, but not one with the siren switch.

xpeace Posted September 14 Author Posted September 14 (edited) It is 330km/h on the label, the text is different ("Über 330km/h nicht ausschalten"). The switch looks different as well (the one used for the gfx resembles the switch which blew off the landing gear on the D5 variant). According to the manual the siren switch had to be activated prior to enabling the dive break lever - deactivation had to take place not before the speed had dropped to 330km/h otherwise the siren clutch brake would overheat and could fail.
