Heart0ne Posted August 23 Posted August 23 Hey guys, Is there any way I can know which unit does which mission types? For example, in BoM I joined 15. (Span)/JG. 27, which uses 109E-7's exclusively in the air superiority role. I also see E7's being used by the AI in the ground attack role, so I guess if I pick the other squadron that flies Emils, I get ground attack missions? in BoN I joined No. 127 Sqn RAF, which exclusively uses the Spitfire IX in the fighter-bomber role. Are there also air-to-air missions for the Spitfire IX? Is there a way to find out the types of missions I get before joining a squadron? Some unit histories are quite clear on their role, but others (like No. 56 'Punjab' Sqn) are much less clear in what to expect when starting the campaign.
Skycat1969 Posted August 23 Posted August 23 (edited) There really isn't an easy or precise way. You have to dig into the game files to really get an idea what mission types are in a unit's 'job jar' during a specific operational period, and even then the missions are generated somewhat randomly for each day. I've compiled some game files and information that will help you interpret them. Mission types for squadrons.zip No. 127 Squadron RAF does have Free Hunt and Frontline Patrol (in addition to Bomb Railway Junction, Bomb Radar Sites, and Bomb V-1 Sites) in its missions portfolio for Chapter 1. I don't know how that will play out for you in execution. Edited August 24 by Skycat1969 1
1CGS LukeFF Posted August 24 1CGS Posted August 24 The best thing to do is to scan through the unit history text to get a sense of what sort of missions they flew. Otherwise, most Allied fighter units will fly a mix a fighter and ground attack missions, dependent on the phase of the war. For German ones, the JG units mostly fly fighter missions, while Schlacht (SG or SchG) units are ground attack units that will sometimes also fly fighter missions. 1 1
