Hi friends:
Surfing in the stats i found that there are some squads, that are breaking the old rule of use the Squad´s tag as prefix of the nickname of the pilot.
I think that this old rule was assumed by all squads in the old iL 2-46 community decades ago, to prevent that a group of coms-coordinated pilots could overwhelmed the small squads, or lonely uncoordinated pilots.
i would know if that rule was forgotten in the community, or if it is only CombatBox sever´s admins are accepting that bad practices for misinforming enemy team.

By the way , my squad and me always required to all new pilots of our squad that using the squad´s tag for flying in multiplayer servers together. And i loved when other new squads do the same, complying the old tradition.

Hello Otto,

I think times have changed, as well as the simulator’s audience and the people who play it.

While this practice used to be common, it might not be anymore. And unless it breaks some server rule, I don’t think it’s a reason to complain or interpreting a certain server is promoting "bad practices".

The old days give way to the new and people are more free to chose their names. Teamspeak gives way to Discord, new and more instant ways of communication, SRS to talk inside the game, virtual reality… etc.

That said, it’s a good point to notice how things change, but I don’t think it’s a bad thing. Although it all depends on the server rules :)

Kind regards,

Hiding to other team that you are trying too hunting other lonely pilots with the help of half dozen of comrades, it is not a "bad practice" today?
Why it was a unaccepted practice 20 years ago?
