JGr2/J5_Baeumer Posted September 6 Author Posted September 6 (edited) In two hours American troops will begin their push across No-Mans-Land in the Argonne Sector with tanks, as the final great offensive of 1918 and the Great War by Entente begins! Entente and Central commands have been mustering all available pilots from other sectors to this area for the Great Battle about to begin. So far 80 pilots have registered with more expected to fill in the ranks on both sides further! The annual Black September Campaign traditionally is the start of the 'fall flying season', and marks the ending of the 'summer doldrums', when pilot activity dwindles while many pilots are on home front leave for the summer. This is the tenth Black September Campaign, which was originated by Jasta 5 in Rise of Flight. It continues to be flown in Flying Circus since its fourth year, hosted by Jagdgruppe 2 which Jasta 5 is the founding member of and reorganized itself into. Edited September 6 by JGr2/J5_Baeumer 1 1
JGr2/J5_Baeumer Posted September 6 Author Posted September 6 (edited) The American Expeditionary Forces succeeded in their first engagement, supported by French tanks on the ground and the brave flyers of the British and French above them! The server was full capacity of 50 pilots. Thankfully there were a few reserves to provide relief from the extremely frenetic and fast action in the area around the American troops advance! Next week there are rumors along the trenches of another attack in the same sector. But will the Allied Entente forces try again in the same spot or another? ... and there are rumors of more planes and pilots arriving to the area next week as the Great Battle ramps up its fury... ... players continue to register for the event following the links above. Be sure to read the different event announcements on the discord channels linked above and look for instructions via PM on discord after registering....if you don't register nobody knows you are requesting to fly... JGr2/J5_Baeumer Posted September 14 Author Posted September 14 A lone squad of American Expeditionary Forces, supported by a few French tanks and French air crews, successfully made it across No Mans Land and through damaged Central ground defenses to continue the advance of Entente Forces against Central. Flying forces from both sides were seen in greater numbers this week as the Black September battles intensify! A win by Entente in the third week will guarantee a successful win for them. But things may be tricky as the word is that forces are already beginning to be transferred by rail to the east into the St. Mihiel sector, only hours since that fighting today has stopped. Airplanes are soon to follow. .. players continue to register for the event following the links above. JGr2/J5_Baeumer Posted September 22 Author Posted September 22 (edited) Congratulations to the pilots of Entente (and those young and brave American 'Doughboys' of the infantry) who convincingly won three missions to win the tenth Black September campaign! However... Congratulations are also due to the Central flyers who, after learning a few hard lessons in Weeks 1 and 2, turned their attention to defeating infantry instead of tanks, and came with a few minutes of winning the 3rd weeks mission, which would have forced a 4th weeks mission and a possible tie, which would have created opportunity for the Kaiser to sue for peace! After an hour of flying with effectively no planes or airfields serviceable, they had managed to eliminate all the infantry, and were waiting for the timer to run out for a win, when one (or was it two) individual wounded infantry managed to crawl their way past devastated Central trenches, through the cratered pock marks of Allied bombardments, and to the forests beyond, with literally a handful of minutes to left. Additionally, the few Central planes that had escaped being seen and were able to get to The Front to hunt for any remaining infantry, came within 50-200 yards of the remaining infantry (reports from both sides vary of course)!!! As close as it could come to a heartbreaking end for Central! Without a tie (or win), allowing the Kaiser to sue for peace treaty terms, the German Army must fight on for a few months more to its inevitable demise, against new mechanized machines of war and an endless supply of materials and men arriving from across the Atlantic, before peace comes to Europe as all decide to avoid a fourth winter in the trenches. Thank you to the 76 pilots of the Flying Circus community for their participation and creation of yet another exhilarating campaign filled with good natured ribbing, fun, and nail biting action! Campaign data is available here: http://70.35.192.48:802/en/?tour=18. Be sure to check out your awards tab for campaign ribbon and any other baubles you may have earned. 1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted September 22 Posted September 22 Congratulations and thanks for good sport. BTW last 4th' mission still in schedule, yes?
JGr2/J5_Baeumer Posted September 22 Author Posted September 22 (edited) The fighting will carry on to a fourth week above the trenches, even as the campaign is lost for Central, and as the German Army gasps its last breaths in the trenches below. Edited September 22 by JGr2/J5_Baeumer
