1CGS LukeFF Posted August 15 1CGS Posted August 15 Hey everyone! Today, we want to showcase the F-80C cockpit in all its textured glory. You can see all the images in 4K detail here: https://il2-korea.com/news/dd_44 13 1 2
Avimimus Posted August 15 Posted August 15 I can almost smell the metal. I've sat in a CF-100 cockpit (1950s era) as well as a Mig-21 - and these images are enough to bring back the feel of metal and the smell if it (and the grease). 2
Rjel Posted August 15 Posted August 15 I’m really excited to fly the F-80. Maybe not as esthetically pleasing to some, something about it has always caught my eye. 1
[CPT]Crunch Posted August 15 Posted August 15 Hope we get a pistol that we can aimed and fire into the wing tip tanks, that was the emergency procedure to empty a wing tip tank which failed to feed. If you couldn't empty it with bullet holes the imbalance of one full tip tank would eventually exceed the ailerons ability to trim or even control by hand the resulting roll. And since they couldn't be dropped you had to balance them out with gun fire. Another thing was on start up the cockpits fill with smoke on these first gen centrifugal engines, their bleed valves were famously leaky on initial start ups, wasn't enough pressure to seal them tight initially. In a T-33 the procedure was go 100% O2 on cranking while the smoke was rolling in. Why you'll always see the photo's of them starting with canopies full open, even on the coldest of winter days. Hope we're still on the time schedule for a release at the end of this year, it's getting close, autumn is in the air. 2
Gambit21 Posted August 15 Posted August 15 Keep in mind that this isn't a game engine render everyone. That doesn't however detract from the stellar job that was clearly done on this model and textures...great work. 1

Where can I get a tub of cosmoline, I want to smear it all over my flight gear. 😁

I kind of suspected that .. if so .. how about release some cockpit pics of what it looks like in game .... lets not go the route that DCS has pulled a few times showing some maps and runway pics that were not what was sold ... I am in on the DCS wwII stuff now .. But hoping for the best when IL2KOREA releases .. so I can pretty much back off DCS and all the Aggravations they can cause , / Update Glitch's / unfixed modules / mainly in WWII / etc. .etc. " its a very small team , we'll get to it when we can " canned response's ... 1

At the very least the lighting will be quite different in realistic circumstances. 2 hours ago, Niagara said: I kind of suspected that .. if so .. how about release some cockpit pics of what it looks like in game .... lets not go the route that DCS has pulled a few times showing some maps and runway pics that were not what was sold ... Already done - you can see a comparison of the models with 'beauty lighting' and the model and cockpit with current in-game lighting (Note: Still WIP - may change or be refined): 1 1

( yes i know WIP) understood. ( Come on now 1CGS Don't be Shy ) we wont Bite .. Edited August 16 by Niagara

The devs have every reason to be guarded about what they show during development. A careful, deliberate approach, and not over promising, is always best in the long run, for both us and them. Patience is indeed a virtue. Edited August 16 by BlitzPig_EL 2

1CGS LukeFF Posted August 16 Author 1CGS Posted August 16 Glad you guys like it! As for showing it in-game - as always, we will, when the time is right. There is still a lot of refinement behind the scenes that needs to be done to make sure they look and function like they are supposed to. Once the summer is over, and we get into the autumn months you'll probably start seeing that sorta thing. 4 2
