Mike2945 Posted August 14 Posted August 14 When I try and enter the game I get the message : #10005 Please update your game - new version available This is the first time I have ever had to update my game as updates have been added automatically in the past. How DO you update the game? I went onto STEAM and downloaded the latest update (Yak/Lagg etc) and when the game opened through Steam it was updated BUT it was a different version of the game - a number of missions and campaigns and Mods that I had added to the game were missing. Two versions of the game? How did that happen? And how do I update the game I open direct from my exe game files on my computer? Puzzled!
Mike2945 Posted August 14 Author Posted August 14 That's exactly what I'm doing - but I'm stuck in a loop - see the attached screenshots - as soon as I 'enter' the next screen comes up. I've launched the game from my shortcut icon on my desktop AND from the exe game files. No luck. This has never happened to me before - updates always happen automatically. What is weird is that I then went onto Steam, and downloaded the update and launched the updated game from Steam - ran OK but it was a different version of the game - a couple of Mods, campaigns and missions were missing and Reshade wasn't activated (which it is in my 'normal' game). How can I have 2 versions of the game - one sitting on my PC - which is the one with up to date content - and one launched via Steam? Anyone able to answer that please? And, again, how do I update the game loaded on my PC?
1CGS LukeFF Posted August 15 1CGS Posted August 15 The only way you are going to see all of your content at the same time on game launch is if you have purchased Stalingrad on Steam, as Steam sees that title as the "base" module of the game; everything else is viewed by it as DLC. You also will have to then launch the game through the Steam app; the IL2 launcher, on its own, cannot see what you have purchased on Steam.
Mike2945 Posted August 15 Author Posted August 15 So I’ve solved the problem. I’ve recently installed additional storage (E drive) and moved the game onto that. All well until the update when my game wouldn’t update despite downloading the update on Steam. When I checked where Steam was downloading to it was to the original location - my D drive. So that version was updated but the version on the E drive - linked to my game shortcut on my desktop- was of course invisible to Steam! I’ve now moved all recent new content (Mods, campaigns, missions, Reshade) onto the game in the original D drive location linked to Steam and all is well. Thank you to all who commented Mike
Aapje Posted August 15 Posted August 15 You can also move a game from within Steam, if you do want it on a different drive: https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/4BD4-4528-6B2E-8327
Mike2945 Posted August 15 Author Posted August 15 Never knew that - may be very useful in the future - thanks!
