-332FG-SGTSAUSAGE138 Posted August 12 Posted August 12 The 1942 engine upgrade for P-40 bricks at the worst times. It seems to happen if you drop throttle to zero then throttle up again. It's happened about 4 time to me in both multiplayer and single player. At first I thought it was an over cool/overheat issue r an overcompression as I was following enemies into a hammerhead stall, however neither of these are the case as I have watched replays and all the engine parameters are good.

This is almost certainly a result of over-revving the engine. The constant speed propellor on the P-40 reacts very slowly, and so big power and/or airspeed changes can cause rpm spikes that will instantly kill the engine. The solution I find is to run a slightly lower rpm setting - maybe 2950 or 2900rpm instead of 3000rpm, and then be gentle with you throttle inputs. The engine (even without the upgrade) generally handles overboost fairly well, but dies almost instantly when you over-rev it.
-332FG-SGTSAUSAGE138 Posted August 13 Author Posted August 13 (edited) Yes I am familiar with the P-40 engine. I am aware of the prop and over compression, but this is not that. I am around 45 inches +- 2 inches and I can operate the plane with the stock engine the same way with no issue. Does the new engine overspeed it more/easier? Also I have track files but they are like 100+ mb so I don't know how I can post or email them? Edited August 13 by -332FG-SGTSAUSAGE138
1CGS LukeFF Posted August 13 1CGS Posted August 13 The best thing to do is to upload them to a file-sharing service like Google Drive or Dropbox.
