Spidey002 Posted August 11 Posted August 11 I keep noticing this issue in the P-38. The heading tape compass is off. You can see from the HUD that we're at 80°, which agrees with the magnetic compass. But the heading tape is at 6 (or 60°). (Sorry for the grainy shot, I play in VR with the desktop image resolution turned down).
czech693 Posted August 11 Posted August 11 This came up not too long ago. That's the directional gyro which is set to match the magnetic compass. IRL it has to be reset every so often. The sim may not be resetting it, or is slow to reset. I haven't watched it over a prolong period so I don't know if it resets. Guess that'll be an excuse to fly the P-38 tonight. 1
Spidey002 Posted August 17 Author Posted August 17 If Il-2 had a way to set it (or reset it) with a keybind, I wouldn’t mind.
czech693 Posted August 31 Posted August 31 Finally flew a P-38 test mission watching the gyro compass. It's definitly messed up. It sticks and doesn't follow the turn. After several hard turns it came unstuck and moved to the current heading. Then it stuck there for more hard turns, never coming unstuck again. It should continously move as you turn similar to the RMI compass.
