trumps Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 G'day all, whats the word on comms with regards to player/AI . CloD had what looked to be a fantastic suite of possible comms strings that could be used, but unfortuately due to the well covered issues majority of them never worked, (though i still have hope with TF's progress). I have put a reasonable amount of time into RoF and obviously with it being a WWI Sim comms are pretty rudimentary and limited to a hand full of gestures, and some flares.what will BoS have in store for us? Cheers
LLv34_Flanker Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 S! I would guess something along the lines of original IL-2 series and Cliffs as they were similar in basic structure. I am sure the system will be easy to use.
Finkeren Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 An expanded version of the original IL2/ClOD system would be preferable to the RoF system, which works fine for the limited communication in a WW1 scenario, but is cumbersome for the more detailed comms in WW2. BTW: I'd like to see some Soviet planes modeled with just radio recievers, the flight leader being the only one to have a transmitter. I'm pretty sure that by late 1942 virtually all Soviet had at least recievers, though removing the entire radio set to save weight (and thereby disabling radio comms altogether) would make a nice field mod for Laggs and Yaks. I also hope we'll have accurate range of the radios modeled. The short range radios used by the VVS could make something of a difference on the tactical level.

I hope that the United Team also keeps the ROF hand signal annimations in mind. Potential future BOS planes, like the I-16 or I-153, could really benefit from the animated hand signals. Bearcat Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 When it comes to comms with AI at least under a system like IL2 .. VAC or something like it is a great tool.
TheNotoriousFNG Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 When it comes to comms with AI at least under a system like IL2 .. VAC or something like it is a great tool. I'm hoping they'll go with a bit more expanded, but I'd be content with standard Il-2 AI commands. It would be nice to have full on voice activated commands in BoS, but I'd rather the dev team focus on more important features than whether or not we can speak commands to our AI teammates, ha!
