1CGS LukeFF Posted July 25 1CGS Posted July 25 Hey everyone! Today, we have a look at the vehicles coming to the "blue" side in Korea. All the details are here! https://il2-korea.com/news/dd_41 8 1
Avimimus Posted July 25 Posted July 25 Just now, Hoss said: Noticed the F-84, is it AI or is it going to be flyable? Yes, I was about to comment! Our first image of it! I believe it is expected to be flyable - which makes sense considering what a significant role it played in the conflict.
1CGS LukeFF Posted July 25 Author 1CGS Posted July 25 Yes, it's a flyable. We discussed it in our last video. 🙂 2 2
Avimimus Posted July 25 Posted July 25 I find it interesting how excited they have me about trucks! The museum is sounding like more and more fun.
ArgonV Posted July 25 Posted July 25 This update is really great, cheers! Now when can I pre-order? lol
[CPT]Crunch Posted July 25 Posted July 25 Shouldn't it be hooked to the pintle hitch and not the fifth wheel? That doesn't make sense nor look physically possible. 1

Single-axle bogie with a saddle to allow attaching an additional F2 trailer. So normally it would go Tractor+F2 or Tractor+F2+Bogie+F2 (as a 'b-train'). In this case it happens that it is set up as a Tractor+Bogie+F2 - which is likely unnecessary, but very possible. It might be done if the bogie was already attached to the F2 when parked, and it was easier to just attach the tractor to the bogie+F2 rather than dismount the bogie and attach the tractor directly.

The bogie connector wouldn't work (so Tractor+Bogie+F2 is indeed out... the bogie only fits between two F2 trailers)! I was wrong!
YoYo Posted July 26 Posted July 26 (edited) Looks nice! Btw. very good infor about F-84! Is it possible to also show some video of the checklist starting the jet from cold and dark mode? Edited July 26 by YoYo 1
Alexmarine Posted July 26 Posted July 26 Trying to pick between the F-80 and the F-84 everytime I’ll start up Korea will truly be a challenge

kraut1 Posted July 27 Posted July 27 (edited) For me the trucks are looking absolutely perfectly. It would be great if the player could drive them and to walk from a truck to a plane to enter the plane. ....and a US "Nebelwerfer"! Edited July 27 by kraut1 3
Oboe Posted July 27 Posted July 27 Looking fantastic, team. Very excited to see a video short of the F-84 flying! I've been reading up on the Korean conflict and the aircraft used. I understand the F-84 has a scary long takeoff roll. There was a saying back then that if a runway were built around the circumference of the Earth, Republic would design an aircraft that would need every foot of it to lift off. The pilots also joked that the Thunderjet had a dirt sniffer in the nose gear and it wouldn't leave the ground until it smelled the dirt at the end of the runway... 1
MajorMagee Posted July 27 Posted July 27 It would be nice if the final renditions have a little squish to the bottom of the tires so they contact the ground over an area rather than touching rigidly at the tangent.

I believe that it was announced that the engine has been improved in this area (if one looks at earlier Briefing Room episodes)? I might be misremembering though? It also may only apply to aircraft (or the player's aircraft)? It might make sense to save resources when it comes to AI objects.
=MERCS=JenkemJunkie Posted July 27 Posted July 27 That does seem like a good priority. The planes have ~3 wheels each, and these trucks have a dozen+ each.
